Thought some of you may like this. Scott Ian, guitarist for the heavy metal band Anthrax, has a little diary-type thing set up on his band's website where he goes off on basically whatever he feels like. In the very first entry, he has something to say about everyone's favorite ex-Rocket! Here's the excerpt: "So, I'm sitting on a plane from NY to LA and the Lakers just won game seven to advance to the finals. I was hoping they would choke so I'd be able to rip my friends in LA. No such luck. Gotta admit, I wanna see Jackson and Harper win the ring over Pippen. Always hated Pippen on the Bulls. Cry baby. Nothing without Jordan." That is pretty funny, I must say. That is classic Freak!!! finally something in a while we can agree on Pretty soon Pippen will be a pop culture icon. Maybe some new words will be in dictionaries to further immortalize his deeds. I'll try a couple of Pip-end-uems myself. Word: Pippened : verb : to flame out meekly; to pull and El Foldo. Example: "The Rockets were ahead of the Suns by 20 late in game 2 of the series, but when the going got tough, we just Pippened . We would not be done in the series though." Word: Snottie Effect : noun : a phenomenon in which a new ingredient poisons the organization that receives him by underperforming and then scapegoating others for his failures. Example, "The sales staff had great returns last year, but then we hired Bruce and he blamed his low marks on the bosses lack of conditioning. A Snottie Effect soon reverberated throughout the sales staff." Word: Pippenesk : adjective : Describing a part of an achievement that later shows itself to be inconsequential. Example, "As in turns of, the fact he carried Mr. Jordan’s jock during the title runs was merely Pippenesk , not vital to their success.” Other thoughts, verbal eloquence is not one of my stronger attributes, I am sure others can do better? Freak, let's turn the equation around. Who among the metal community do you think would like Pippen? My money's on Poison. They seem like the type that would like him. Both Poison and Pippen rode to fame on the crest of someone else's popularity (Jordan for Pippen and the more talented and genuine metal bands for Poison) while contributing little of originality themselves. ------------------ You bring the bullets, I'll bring the wine.
