I don't know why, but all this back and forth with pgabriel brings to mind a haunting melody ...

Sung to the tune of "In Your Eyes" ...

    In your eyes
    You like the Heat
    In your eyes
    The Rox are incomplete
    In your eyes
I see the doorway to a thousand trades
    In your eyes
The resolution of all the Les charades
    In your eyes
I see the Mike and the Shaq
    In your eyes
Oh, I want to be that Spurs fan
I want to touch the trophy,
The MVP I see in your eyes
In your eyes In your eyes
In your eyes In your eyes
In your eyes In your eyes

All in good fun. I actually think pgabriel raises fair points, even though I can't say I agree with all of them.

But seriously, maybe it's just the Christmas eggnog and cheer, or maybe it's that a good friend would love to be in Houston griping about the Rockets rather than avoiding sniper fire, but I think our guys are gonna be all right. This is adversity, plain and simple, and I think we'll beat it.

If you really want something to complain about, how bout that the fact that we are always comparing Yao and McGrady to Hakeem and Jordan, and we could've had Hakeem and Jordan together if only we would've been willing to part with Ralph Sampson in 1984.

Ditto dat. C'mon folks, even superstars need a few games to adjust when you completely change the team on them, which is basically what's happened with all the injuries. Let's not be so quick to give up on the guy after a bad game or two. The guy proved last year that he'll gut it out and play with injury when it counts. You would think that would buy him a little bit of goodwill, or at least for a single game or two after he just lost his best running mate.

So you think TMac should somehow make Ryan Bowen into a legitimate starting forward, Wesley into a decent point guard, and Juwan Howard a good rebounder and defender? Take away the best player off every team and tell me who has a weaker starting lineup than the one the Rockets have been putting out there the last few games. Can you think of any? I can't.

If McGrady can't turn RyBo into Larry Bird, then how far have we really come in race-relations in this country?

It's the least McGrady can do...

Tmac looked a lot more aggressive against Utah. While I haven't commented in this thread, I mentioned in the last game thread or two, that Tmac didn't look like he cared, or that his heart was into the games.
    Things appear to have changed...

Agreed, and that is what he needs to do to lead this team.

The thing that gets me about this thread is that, IMO, it seems like McGrady has been rather aggressive and focused for the year and a half he's been here. I don't really remember, in all the games I've watched, thinking that somehow he's really been the problem for this team.

And then, the last two games and he's actually not very aggressive, and BAM, this thread. As though it's suddenly a real concern. I don't see it.

McGrady hardly seems the problem, nor the empty, unfocused and non-aggressive shell this thread makes him out to be.

We have plenty of other worries that need to be addressed before even thinking this is a major one.

There is nothing wrong with bringout out a criticism of a player who has admittadly quit playing his best on another team.

And, we can not afford to have Tmac be passive and have a chance to win.

We brought him here to lead, and that is something he is still growing into...if at all.

Until it actually seems as though some sort of real, tangible thing to criticize here in Houston - and two games doesn't make it so (not too mention he was focused again tonight) - it seems to be an overblown issue. And hardly the real meat of the problem as to why we are struggling.

And it sure seems like he's done his part to will this team to victories in his time here.

My apologies, you're right -- I meant it all in good fun, really. Seriously, nothing personal (couldn't be since I don't know you, and, in fact, you might turn out to a good friend from high school) -- I really did just think it was funny and would've laughed just as hard if he did it to me. Happy New Year to you. I actually agree with some of what you said, though, I'm probably a little more optimistic about things in general. I just think the team needs a little more time to gel, and I think it'll happen in time for us to make the playoffs.

Tracy is a father. He'll soon realize it's the best thing that's ever happened to him, and perhaps it'll fire him up to play harder than he did in the first half against Utah, which I agree was pretty darn hard.

This whole thread is worthless bc of the fact that everyone just whines like a bunch of babies. Including TMAC haters and lovers. All of yall are babies. It is true, TMAC is def no KOBE, KB can create points with nobody on his team. MJ made a bunch of scrubs good bc he made everyone that much better. TMAC still as a lot of health issues, and I hate to say it, but i dont see us being able to pull it together this year....but next year, with a healthy TMAC and a better YAO we will be there....btw, trade that scrub SWIFT or let him just play....
