If you did not get a chance to see this great movie at the theater, do yourself a favor and buy or rent the DVD. You will not be dissappointed, but be prepared to want to watch the series Firefly for more of a good thing. DD
Serenity is #2 on Amazon's DVD Bestseller's list (used to be #1 before Wedding Crashers came along) while Firefly is #3!
Bought the DVD , because of all the great things I had heard about it, and me and wife saw it and it was ok but just wasn't as good as everyone said it was. I'm gonna watch it again but I don't know maybe I'm missing something. On the nerd front I did get to meet 2 of the actors from the movie a while back...
It is a movie based on the series Firefly... but people who hadn't seen the series can still enjoy it. I actually saw the movie before I saw the series.
From what I understand it's a continuation of the Firefly series but at the same time a condensed version of the series
Yep. Joss packed all the good stuff he had wanted for the show and stuffed it all in. Best movie I've seen in a long time, and maybe the best TV-->big screen jump I've ever seen. I personally recommend seeing the TV stuff first, it gives Serenity a bigger wallop. Evan
There was just one season of Firefly, right? Might have to check out the series before I see the movie again.
Actually only 11 episodes of the 14 aired, and the network brilliantly aired them out of order so there was no introduction to the characters. The screwed up big time...the series would have been huge if given time to find it's audience. DD
Will have to pick up the box set, I assume the episodes are in order on the set, correct? Really wanna like this movie a lot more than I did on the first viewing
Yeah, and unfortunately the movie grossed approximately $15 million less than the estimated budget, so it seems there will be no Family Guyesque return based on post-cancellation sales or popularity. Pity, because I imagine there will be a lot of people like me that realize how much they like this show now that it is cancelled.
Definitely pick up the tv series set. It gives much more depth and background on the characters. Plus there is plenty of hilarity. Good stuff.
I bought this DVD the day it came out, and I had it ripped to ISO on my laptop before the day was over. The outtakes where Nathan Fillion changes the dialogue or screws up intentionally are hilarious.
She is pretty hot but she is even smaller in person than she appears on the movie, was probably 85 lbs soaking wet
