Hey guys, Any good recommendations to go to such as recruiters who works with non-degree individuals, job search site such as monsters, careerbuilder, etc., or job postings......I am trying to get a full time position in the mortgage loan processing industry, but it seems like everywhere requires a few years of expereince. I would even settle for Office or Admin Assistant jobs right now....Any kind of heads up would be great....Thanks. No dumb comments please
The only thing I can say is dont bother posting on Monster I have yet to hear of anyone getting a job off of there..
A single mom...i think there's a possibility for lots of "heads" to be up...for "jobs"... ...sorry for the dumb comment.
Assuming you are in Houston, continue utilizing the sites you mentioned, but do not rely on them as your only job searching source. I would also suggest registering with a number of temp/staffing agencies such as Adecco, Corestaff, Staffmark, etc. There are dozens of them in the phone book, so call around to see what they specialize in and what positions they are currently staffing for(they'll likely tell you all sorts and you'll need to go in anyway). These agencies may seem like a waste of time, but since you are looking to enter a field with no experience, it is a good way to get your foot in the door somewhere. Good luck.
You arent very familiar with this forum are you? asking for no dumb comments is basically begging for dumb comments.
Since you are posting on this site, I am assuming you have basic computer skills. If you can handle basic operations in word and Excel you should be able to find some basic office assitant type job to start, you can go to those temp agenices and take their tests (that's what my wife did when she first got to the states).
I agree try this site Kelly Services They have an updated list of staffing of jobs in our area.. I know someone that got a solid job that started out as a temp with the company..
Ditto, I had a resume up there for years and years, and I've had one of their search agents email me appropriate openings for years. In the 4 or so major job searches I've had, I never ONCE even got an interview through Monster. Sometimes I swear it is just one big scam.
agslai - It would be tough to find a job in a field without any experience if you want to be a mortgage broker could you start off by doing loans for a bank? I've actually had some mortgage brokers contact me because I had some sales experience. Good luck in your job hunt but you may want to look into working at a bank first. J

What would you do if your son was at home Crying all alone on the bedroom floor 'Cause he's hungry And the only way to feed him is to Sleep with a man for a little bit of money And his daddys gone Somewhere smoking rock now In and out of lock-down I ain't got a job now So for you this is just a good time But for me this is what I call life
I work for RBC Builder Finance, shoot me an email with your resume to brad.groux@rbc.com and I will forward it on to our HR/Mortgage/Loan departments.... our company did 4 billion in sales this year and has grown 300% each of the last 3 years. I'm in IT so all the mortgage talk is greek to me, but we are always hiring. Good Luck!
