I got one of the first ever TV/VCR combos when I was 9 or so. It was 13 inches and you pulled the VCR out from under the TV. The best part about getting that gift was that my parents didn't tell me or my sisters who it was for. My sisters thought they were getting it for their condo in Waco. WRONG.
Lucky duck. Actually I traded a Gene Simmons solo album to your Brother In-law for a Droid Factory a long time ago....
I remember being sooooo ****ing hyped when I got the Turtle Blimp one year. For whatever reason, I always got video games for my birthday.
i had a pretty sweet redline too but never got around to getting the proline cranks. hmmmmmmmmm, ebay...
i have a set of original redline flight cranks (185mm!) that are crac...in perfect condition i could sell you.
You know a couple years ago his wife gave him a KISS pinball machine for christmas. He's the Lucky Duck
LEGOs. Every Christmas, I knew I'd be getting at least one set but that didn't kill the excitement unwrapping each box. Mmm, nostalgia.
Completely out of line with everyone else's gifts, my favorite was a cool, kiddy carpenter set when I was like 8. I ran around the house all morning wearing nothing but my underwear andmy carpenter belt swinging my hammer and little saw. My parents didn't think out that Christmas too well.
I never really got anything that stood out for Christmas except when I got my first Playstation when I was 14, along with Madden 99. I loved that thing. But in all honesty material things mean little to me, I find little joy in recieving so I turn to giving instead for kicks. In our family the tradition is kind of draw names out of a hat and you buy that person a gift. This Christmas I bought my little sister a 23 inch TV, a dvd-vcr combo and some DVDs. I'm gonna give her the DVDs first, then be like "oh wait this too" then give her the dvd player, then be like "oh you might need this too" and bring out the TV. It's gonna be cool.
I had Pong too. Just not new on Christmas morning. I think I got Pong the year before I got the Atari (Sears VCS)... at pawn shop if memory serves me correct. My dad had a knack for throwing off my suspicions of what I might get for the following Christmas by bursting my bubble with a "lesser" gift. So no, my pong wasn't new... but I had one before the Atari 2600's came out. That's fine if you're than me. I'm sure someone here gotthis the first year it was out too. btw-my pong was like this one...
Christams in Saudi Arabia when I was 5. I got a but load of crap and it was a good haul to begin with, when I am just dead from opening presents and we are all sitting by the tree soaking up the feeding frenzy I had on my presents, my Dad says, "whats that in the tree? I go over and look and there is Boba Fet, 15 minutes later I had found over 10 star wars figures hidden throughout the tree. If I ever have a boy, I will do the same for him. All other christmas's pale in comparison to that one. For the next 10 years I would always, check the tree, but never found anything.
an F-14 Tomcat pinball machine. while my NES was the most used christmas gift i ever got, the pinball machine was definitely the one that stood out the most. you don't see a pinball machine in people's houses every day. we got it like 15 years ago and just sold it in a garage sale like 2 years ago. i wish it was still around b/c it was so damn fun, but some of the parts were worn out and hurt the game play a little. "now you d-d-d-d-die!!"
NES was defiantely the best that i can remember. I also recalled getting the SNES, but that didn't touch the NES. We were only allowed 15 minutes a day to play super mario brothers ... but that only lasted about a week. I remember being one of the very first to find that hidden world in supermario brothers.
