I'm not buying that. Marcus Camby flourished under JVG. Nobody is to blame but the player who is not performing well. the dude is not even grabbing a few boards or playing a lick of defense right now. Is it JVG's fault that he's not contributing in that area of the game? The guy's effort level is very poor right now man. We are not the Suns and never will run an offense like that unless you want to trade Yao Ming. when you say if he was playing with the Suns, what you mean is if he was playing with the mvp point guard of the league. well of course, who wouldn't become a better offensive player playing with Steve Nash. But we are not going to totally change our offense that runs through Yao and Mcgrady to help Swift out because he's struggling. Sure JVG probably has some plays to get Swift the ball now that Yao is gone and will try to get him going sometimes but we're not going to start trying to run and gun like the suns, first of all we don't have the players to do that sort of thing and second of all Yao will be back, then we'd have to scratch it and start all over again and run the offense we were running while he was here. You can't do that. It's not that simple. This isn't a playstation game you know.

I'm sorry, but Richard Anderson was, at worst, equal to Stromile. LOL. He could at least pop a few 3's. And don't forget John Turner...

Why did he only play 14 minutes on a night with no Yao, no Deke, and the opposing team doesn't really have a dominant/oversized center? :)

I feel we need give him more time

JVG should let him play 40 mins, not 15 mins.

I dont think we have chance at this DENVER game, so why not let him play the whole game and hopefully cna help him get into the game mode

I agree and also keep in mind he's the worst PF that memphis ever had too.

Agree, give him at least one game where the impatient JVG takes the leash off and lets him play big minutes. All I know is there was some definite chemistry when Stro was paired with the slow footed Yao Ming. I thought that was the reason the rockets went after Stro in the offseason, to pair him with a non athletic Yao.

    Chilcut vs. Swift?

seems like Chilcut did more with his limited ability...

I know it's early, but why did Cato prosper under JVG, but Swift has not been able to do the same? I think their games are fairly similar (although Cato is bigger that Swift).

he has all the athletic talent in the world, just hasn't put it together yet, and maybe never will. i don't expect the world from him, but i do expect a guy who can put up 14 pts. and 7 rebounds along with some blocked shots. he hasn't done that yet.

i'm extremely dissapointed in him and pretty much everyone else on the team.

I agree that it's Stro's fault, but I also think he could do better elsewhere. Should we change everything just for him? No, not at all. Is he as bad as everyone is making him out to be? I don't believe so.

The last really good PF on this team was Otis Thorpe. Swift is light-years away from being in Thorpe's league.

Cato had the leg strength and weight not to be pushed around, so he could box out and be a better rebounder. He could thus play the role of the big guy. Otherwise they are pretty similar.

Mark Bryant was an old man when he was a Rocket and I would still say better. He had a big man's game.

Granted Langhi, who Stromile reminds me most of, was not as good, though they both jump well, but I think Langhi was supposed to be a shooting guard or something. :p

As others have noted. For some reason JVG is not allowing Swift much more then scrub minutes. If Swift cant get barely 20 mins a game, what are you guys expecting. Ive seen him create shots, seen him be 10 X's the defensive presence of Howard or Ming alot of times. Even when He has a decent game, JVG just wont give him minutes at all. ITs weird. Its almost as if JVG doesnt want Swift in the lineup much, or maybe JVG never wanted Swift to begin with and this is his stubborness with Swift by cheaping him out on minutes.

I PROMISE if swift had 30+ mins a game, wed have at VERY least a 15 PPG, 8-9 Rebound, 2 blocks per game PF. Isnt that what we always wanted to go with Ming and TMAC?

WTF is up with JVG? I mean Ming is out, and Stro gets 14 mins the next game? Damnit Gundy, get off Bowens nuts and give some damn minutes to Stro. Enough is enough already.

I think we need to run a more uptemp/open court game for STRO to show off his skills.

What would happen if we got Richard Jefferson? He would just jack up 3s cause that's how our offense is.

    The true problem is PG.

I agree, to take advantage of Swift's skills we need a more up tempo offense. might as well now that Yao is injured.

My understanding from the offseason was the pursuing Swift was JVG's idea. If he's not getting minutes, it's because he's not earning them.
