None of the above. It'll be Swift/small ball until either Deke or Yao can return to action.

What real centers will we be facing in the next 5 or so games?

CD is going to go with Deke in middle and go with the small lineup when Deke isn't on the floor. None of these guys excite me, most of them are PFs not centers, and there is a reason they are out of the league.

Amaechi? He is absolutely horrible now.

What about that forward who was out of Texas that we were talking about bringing out of the NBDL? James Thomas I think his name was.

these players may suck but they are all good at at least one thing. except for jabari smith.

what do we need most out of that position? mid-range jumper? rebounding? hustle? shot blocking?

we should decide on one, then sign the guy who can do that and live without the rest for a couple weeks.

Yeah, only problem as someone already pointed out, Deke's out too :\

I think they will test the waters with Swift at center. If it's just completely ugly, they might panic and sign someone...we can only wait and see.

Maybe if it were 1995 instead of 2005.

I view this current situation as an excellent time for Swift and Gundy to do some serious bonding.

Hell, I can almost hear the bonding now. Swift, looking sheepishly across the practice court at Van Gundy with those doe-like eyes...

Van Gundy screaming and throwing his towel on the court...

    aww, the holidays.

And in keeping with a Rockets season filled with injuries, Yao's replacement, Dikembe Mutombo, dislocated and cut the middle finger on his right hand and will miss at least the next two games. He is scheduled to be re-evaluated next Monday.

    From today's Chron

Next 2 games are Toronto and Denver. Can we slide with only Swift against those 2?

I think we can survive the next 2 games with no center, but beyond that, yes we do need some help.

I can't believe how many injuries we've had this season.

I am thinking the Rox will likely pick-up Marcus Fizer to add depth to our big man rotation. Marcus plays for our NBA D-League affilliate Austin Toros and he is have a decent year so far accross the board. One of my favorite players while in college, Marcus is an all rounder who has not lived up to his billing in the big league. Easily one of NCAAB all time greats, Marcus will have one or more chances to shine in the NBA. He can play multiple positions, with a soft touch and above average footwork offensively and defensively.
