How bad does Nomar feel about turning down that $60M/4yr deal from the Sox? Of course he still has "Beautiful".
1 year 6 million plus incentives...certainly not a cost issue. I really think he could have helped us.
It looks like the dodgers are going after Sanders as well. "The Los Angeles Daily News believes the Dodgers could sign both Reggie Sanders and Kenny Lofton in addition to Nomar Garciaparra. That would make Jose Cruz Jr. one expensive fourth outfielder. Since J.D. Drew can handle center, Cruz to Lofton is probably a downgrade anyway. Sanders would make a lot of sense in left field, assuming that he comes at a reasonable price." http://fantasybaseball.rotoworld.com/content/home_mlb.asp?sport=MLB
Not sure if you guys read the chronicle this morning but Purp made some references that he was "led to believe" that Nomar would wait until after the weekend to decide....and that he hasnt spoken to Arn Tellum since Fri afternoon.....and that he thinks that Grady Little had something to do with him being there etc. It also says our offer was "close". We just saved 22 million friggin dollars and our offer was just CLOSE??? You have to get what you want. You have to sell yourself, your city, your team, your success, your everything. Tim Purpura is a wonderful scout. I don't think he will ever be a good GM. Unfortunately, he is just the type of guy that Drayton probably wants in the GM role....one who won't rock the boat...a puppet.
