As long as Ron Artest adds talent to a basketball team, and there are teams that have not had him on their team, he will keep getting chances. He brings so much talent-wise that every team thinks they can manage him. Especially considering how little he makes relatively.
Maybe...but he knows the value of a dollar. He applied for job at Best Buy so that he could get a discount. He got good training at home.
The funny thing is that I just read a bunch of articles about how the Lakers are *perfect* for Artest and that PJ is in love with him. Yeah, good luck moving Artest to LA after this comment.
would you like to be called out constantly for your mistakes??? Everyone in the world knows about it...that is WAY more than enough.
i don't see what's wrong with what he said...hell someone had to say it sooner or later. the guy has been getting a free pass on it forever just because he's lovable magic. and i don't see this as magic criticizing artest's professional life. this is artest's way of making a living, he plays basketball to take care of his family, that's personal to me. saying a guy shouldn't be allowed to make a living is personal. screw magic.
They should replace "Artest" on the back of his jersey with this quote. Its the story of his NBA career.
I may be talking out of my ass, but if he would have said that, I think Stern would have dropped the hammer on him to point of making JVG's fine last year look like pennies.
You apparently didn't hear or comprehend what Magic said. Where is the quote where he says "Ron Artest does not deserve a second chance."? Magic said if Artest screws up AGAIN after this, then he WON'T get another chance in the NBA. He never said whether Artest did or didn't deserve anything. He was trying to help Ron and get through to him so the guy realizes what can happen if he keeps going down that path. If Magic did say that he didn't deserve a second chance, provide a quote, because the author of that article certainly didn't.
The point is that Magic shouldn't be talking about other people's poor choices, bad decision making, or right to "second chances."
I didn't catch the TNT segment, but according to this site, this is what Magic actually said: Magic on Ron Artest’s request to be traded from Indiana: “This is the last incident that (Ron Artest) can have, and I want him to understand that. Anything follows this and he won’t get a contract in the NBA. He cannot do anything after this if he gets his trade. T hat’s it, because anything after this two-year contract is up, trust me, he won’t be in the NBA.” http://www.sportsfeatures.com/index.php?section=pp&action=show&id=27715 Not really the way TheIndyChannel.com article made it sound ("Former NBA great Magic Johnson said Artest doesn't deserve a second chance in the NBA."). Seems more like Magic was saying - at the least - that Artest isn't going to GET another chance if he messes up YET AGAIN after being traded, and Artest needs to understand that, or - at most - that Artest wouldn't DESERVE another chance if he messed up YET AGAIN after being traded (depending on what you read into it... but NOT that he shouldn't get another chance with another team based on what he's done already). I'll admit that at first, based on the way TheIndyChannel.com article made Magic's comments sound, that Magic seemed to have Artest's rebuttal coming... but after reading what Magic actually said, I don't think Artest's criticism was really deserved.
I'd be fine with Kobe saying something like that if magic talked about his rape case. However, this is a situation where Magic is basically trying to help and warn Artest. Artest might have been presented with an inaccurate statement from that writer, and then he spouted off. There's just no need to attack somebody's personal life in this situation. It would be like Francis insulting Calvin Murphy and his 13 children after hearing that Calvin questioned his shot selection.
For all we know, Magic could have been infected by a mosquito. Stop judging others unless you know the whole story.
You can't get AIDS from a mosquito, and Magic Johnson has admitted to having unprotected sex with many women while he was with his wife. This is pretty common knowledge.
