Uprising, seriously...I would have expected better. Obviously an extremely embarrassing incident for the university...pretty unnecessary.

Well, the same would have been posted by a number of users if it was against that other Texas university.

So I found myself changing my post from something a bit respectful....to that.

    1. This is bad news and unfortunate

    2. This type of problem or an academic problem seems to happen to UT in each of the big three sports every year. College sports is a multi-billion dollar industry, and the pressures to win can be overwhelming. Let's face it, were it not for the influence and dollars associated with football, 95% of the UT team would not be on campus. The same can be said for the vast majority of state schools. With the idol worship that these players receive on campus, their social skills are severely warped. When you combine that the ultra-high testosterone levels of a 20-year old football player, you get this sort of ugliness.

Eh...whatever. I honestly don't see that or anything similar(Unabashedly mocking the fanbase for some extremely unfortunate incidents) being posted if the roles were reversed(And, trust me, they have been reversed), but I don't really care that much. Unnecessary, but...whatever.

I'm not surprised in the least. It's well known that UT brings in shady players in order to compete on the national level. That's just how it works over there in Austin... They're not exactly bringing in scholars to play sports there. Hell, last year they recruited a guy from Texarkana who never made it to campus because he raped a 12 year old. A TWELVE YEAR OLD.

Brock Edwards, Cedrick Benson, Tim Moss, Jason Klotz, Erik Hardeman, the list of Longhorn criminals is a long one.....

Little more info(All at least second or third-hand info, mind you) - There were two separate incidents. One in September and one last weekend. From what I understood, the one in September(Involving a player no longer on the team...not sure who) involved a handgun and is much more serious. The one last weekend, while serious, is not quite as serious(No charges), but the players involved(I'm guessing Ramonce, Griffin, one more member of the defensive backfield) will not play in the Rose Bowl.

:( A friend of mine was down the hall from Taylor's room in Jester on Wednesday night I think it was when he said police showed up... he thought he was being busted for smoking pot since apparently he lights up there all the time or something... guess it was much more serious than that...

Nice analysis (I can't believe I just said that), but I think you could remove UT and replace it with any major program and you would still be correct. Last year USC starting OT Winston Justice was suspended for a gun crime, but he's back starting, it seems every year multiple FSU players have trouble with the law, but never seem to miss games, and All America DT Dusty Dvoracek was suspended for the majority of last year before being brought back this year for a police run in, as you said it' just an unfortunate effect of bringing "shady" characters in order to win games. That being said, let's not jump to conclusions and label these guys guilty without any evidence. Let the law run it's course before making judgement.

right now...i'm doubting it's legitimacy. supposedly one of the robberies was on 6th st. at 3 am on sept. 4th, that would be just hours after a their opening football game against la. laffeyette. somehow i doubt those guys a night after playing football are going out to 6th st. to rob people, just sounds ridiculous. plus how long ago was this??? why wasn't this reported, i don't know....in september? the other one was dec. 10th, which can make sense but i still don't see it happening.

now, don't get me wrong if they did do it....they are morons and should be kicked off the team regardless of who they are.

but this is the APD, complete morons who shoot 15 year old kids in the back and have had a TON of problems with racial profiling over the last 5 years, plus not to mention a revolving door of police chiefs of late.

in the end. lets remember these are just allegations and they are innocent until proven guilty, not the other way around.

and to the person who said mack has had a long list of criminals....can you please list?

Alledgely, it was the running back from Colorado with a Texas city last name who was the one who flashed the gun...That incident supposedly did not involve Taylor or Griffin. I am curious to hear who the third starter is.

    Some good news from ESPN:

    http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=2263160

Dodds says that at this point there is no need for action by the athletic department. A quote from an attorney says it was nothing but a verbal incident involving Griffin, and he doesn't expect charges to be pressed. No word on Taylor being involved.

I'm sort of skeptical, but I just heard from a friend that the incident involving Ramonce Taylor and Cedric Griffin(Apparently no others, I guess...) was little more than a shoving match. No legal action and probably no action by school/athletic department/coaching staff.

That's what it sounded like based on what the attorney said on the espn.com article, it was probably just a glorified shouting match.
