Nah, Sura and Wesley are good enough. Let's trade Barkley for Cassell and Horry. They are both clutch!
you never make a trade during a wining streak. on top of that, everyone is starting to gel so it's a really bad time for a trade. we should wait to see what rafer could bring us when he gets healthy.
Daniels for Wesley and a pick straight up? or........................... Daniels and Jamison for Wesley Moochie Swift Juwan #1 pick Washington waives Wesley and we bring him back at the minimum. AD/Rafer/Sura Head/Wes/JB/Graham TMac/DA/Rybo Yao/Deke Antwan/Baxter/Scrub Wizards get rid of Antwan's salary plus they get Swift to run and gun with their guards plus they pick up a draft pick and cap relief. Takers??? I think I'd do the Dwes and pick for AD. I think I'd have to think long and hard about the second deal, but it would be tempting. We would lose a bit of front court depth but we probably could make a minor deal with one of our guards to pick up a 4 banger or just sign the burliest defending rebounding 4 out of one of the minor leagues.
We wouldn't lose just a bit of front court depth.... we lose a ton! Juwan and Swift are more than capable and they provide different things to throw at opposing 4's. Jamison is great and all but he is no spring chicken anymore and he's a tweener; a good one i might add, he can get away and succeed in the Eastern conference and the Wizards style of play but I'd rather keep the luxury of Swift and Howard. Besides we've barely reached a 1/4 of the season and were finally starting to gel.
rocks have 4 sg's (including head) but need to play t-mac there. rocks need another starting sg or sf.
If there's a way to get Al Harrington, I think the Rockets have to do that. He's having a career year. He may not be long and atheletic like Swift but he is a very efficient scorer and his post up defense... Van Gundy will get him to play defense. Right now he's got 35 against the Knicks and they still have another quarter to play. If Stromile and Wesley or something else could get us Al Harrington, we'd probably have to swing that.
my suggestion is if we can get someone like Haslem, go for it. How many times have we been out-rebounded? If you get less boards, it's always bad thing!
I still think we really need to make some trades. Wesley as our PG will not bring us deeper to the playoffs. We need a reliable alternative to Tmac when his back aches again. And we will not win cinsistently if we get outrebounded...
We need to upgrade the 4, which means the Jho position. Stro keeps learning/improving. We need to upgrade the backup 3 which means the Rybo position. Maybe this is Graham, only time will tell - and Gundy will have to actually play him so we can tell. We need to upgrade the 1. So either Alston or ALston/Sura come back and make it good in January or we trade. Dwes if not traded drops back into the 2 rotation. Trade as little as possible to limit disrupting chemistry - but I trust JVG here. If graham/alston/sura can come thru before the playoffs then the focus is on upgrading the 4 thru trade. Meaning Jwon unless we can trade Stro/whatever for a kicka$$ PF. Then in the summer we upgrade one of these positions in the draft and as much as we can do via FA. Agree with DD - head continues to contribute and graham contributes and it fills some holes. Team starts playing .700 ball again.
In all seriousness, we definitely need to improve on our guard plays. Maybe getting a better defender and a better shooter from the perimeter. We're far from becoming a complete team. With all these new additions, Wesley is becoming older every day, Rafer Alston might turn out of be not what we originally expected. Derek Anderson is far removed from his better days. I don't think we should move Swift because there's just not many qualifying offer out there, you don't make the trade just to get rid of a guy unless he's cancer. By the way, anyone know whatever happened to Lonny Baxter, Stephen Graham? How come they don't play any recently?
I say that we stay put, the offers out there won't improve the team, and the team is playing so well. McGrady, and Yao make the team go, I don't think that we should mess with a good thing. We don't need guys who jack up a ton of shots, and since point guards are such a hot commodity for the time being, we won't be able to acquire what we're looking for reasonably. Stro gave up a lot to be on this team, I think that we should show him some loyalty for it. He's actually starting to play well. Just let the team be, the less that they're worried about being traded, the more that they can focus on playing good ball. No matter who we get, we'll never go anywhere without McGrady, and Yao.
I think we should make a trade with lakers, they got too much talent at SF position, Luke Walton, Devean George, Lamar Odom, and Kobe as a Swingman. WE should get Walton or George since we really need a SF. Anderson or Alston could be the bait. Just a thought.
I detest "chemistry" weakness. Great GMs are not afraid to pull the trigger. Look at the dynasties - the stars stay but the supporting cast turns over. Stasis is an false idol. The world is a river of change. You must be able to drink the mountain stream. It will not slow to a still lake, if you are ascending. Water is only still when it has finished falling. Right now, the only players we have that truely excel are Yao, Tmac, and Head. Nobody else is untradeable. We have real weakness at the 4 and the 2 and the 1. Head is really a super-sub. We need the veteran steady hand - someone exactly like Antonio Daniels, instead of Sura or Alston. We need the rebounding power forward. We need a slasher better than Ryan Bowen. Tmac needs a help defender at the wing that can rebound. Tmac is amazing but can't rebound. Having guards (sura, head) rebound is not really ideal - they can't break. You better have a greyhound wing and 4 if your rely on the guard to board. In short, we need upgrades. We need to lock up some young talent on reasonable contracts. We have some old guys that are going to be gone or worse - still here, but $ux0rz. We need a channel for assets. We need a future.
