Ok i've been in my house for 3 years now. For the first two years, I never paid a dime for garbage service. Then in March of '05 I got a note from waste management (the people who pick up my garbage) saying that they overlooked my neighborhood and nobody has been charged. They say now that I had to pay quarterly and that they would send me a sticker to put on my garbage can. They said if the sticker was not on there then they wouldn't pick it up. So I paid in March and never received a sticker and I looked all around my neighborhood and nobody else had stickers on their cans. Now i'm getting another bill from them for another payment, but no sticker? Anyone else had any problems like this and do you guys have to have stickers on your garbage cans? I'm confused.
hmm Give em what they want [c'mon] Give em what they want [c'mon] Give em what they want they all can't get it
If you are in Harris County, call 311 to confirm what they are telling you. That sounds fishly. I've lived in Houston virtually my whole life in various places and never heard of paying for trash pickup unless you are a business.
It's a well known fact that waste mgmt companies are run by the mob. Do whatever they say or you'll be swimming with the fishies. Capiche?
I don't have a clue whether it's a scam or not but when I thought about the story you told I thought "cool scam". Did your check go to a PO Box or a physical address?
sounds like a scam. your garbage bill should be taken care of by your home owners association....thats part of the reason why you pay them their annual fee's.
WTF. The bill that comes in looks legit. I'll try to scan it in tonight and see what you guys think. Does anyone here pay seperate for garbage service? Does it matter that I use my home address as my business address?
Last year Waste Management started a sticker system in my neighborhood. Every quarter you pay the bill and they send you a sticker to place on your garbage can. The sticker is used to let the garbage men know whether they should take your garbage or not. If your sticker has an old date the company does not take your garbage.
We live inside loop 610. We get a bill from City of Houston. The bill covers water, sewer, and trash collection. I don't know where you live. It may not be in city of Houston, and therefore may be a different setup. If the sticker thing is legit, then I'd say it's time for you to print your own sticker and not pay squat.
We have stickers on our trash cans where I live, but I know the garbage men couldn't give a frogs fat ass whether we have them or not. They don't even have to get out of the truck anymore, how are they supposed to see if every can has a sticker or not? As long as the can is a City of Houston can, they pick it up. Sticker or no sticker.
We have stickers in my neighborhood, but WM hasn't given us new ones and they don't seem to check anymore.
All this trash talking... Anyway, isn't it easy to just come and take that sticker off? What if I put my initials on the sticker and a cop comes and tells you it's mine??
