With Artest, Sura, Mutombo, and Bowen on our team, we will kill the opposition. And by kill I mean literally. There'd be bodies and sh*t lying on the court.
The biggest detractor to getting Artest is his dislike of the structured offense and Carlisle calling a play everytime down the floor. Sound familiar? Almost enough to sway me against the trade but, after weighing both sides, it's still obvious you still make the trade for Artest.
I think we will be championship bound instead of NBDL. Think about now we have three superstars. T-Mac and Artest are such great defenders that they can shutdown any team that has less than three superstars (well, ie all teams). Offensively, since the opposing teams must be busy about Yao/T-Mac/Artest all the time, Howard and other people can then be freed up to shoot their open jumpers. Artest is an even more intense version of Sura. He will give us a bigger kick in the ass than Sura did last year.
Lol! Mutombo's elbows would take out 3/4's of the team by themselves. Artest would be there to finish 'em off while Bowen's holding 'em!
Would you guys do 1) Swift+Head+2 First Round Picks (2007 and 2009) for Artest 2) Swfit+Head+Wesley+Mooch+2007 First Round Pick for Artest + Croshere (signed until 2007) I think this is what it will take for us to get Artest and I would happily do both deals.
Artest isn't as vocal or blue collar as Sura is. He can be an intense defender but he is really quite passive on the court. Kind of strolls from place to place, knocking down jumpers, powering his way to the basket, shutting down the guy he is guarding. Not a dynamic on-court personality. You can overlook all that if he wasn't such a future liability. There is telling when he might want out of Houston, and you can be sure we won't get Head+Swift+picks for him this time. Looking at it from Indiana's perspective, they can get better deals from NYC. Do they need Head with Sarunas and Tinsley at the 1 spot? Indiana's biggest problem is their rebounding, getting Swift really solves nothing for them.
heh... good point, and a good perspective. "too much offense" isn't one of our problems right now, is it?
There is no way that they get a better deal from NYC. First of all, their first round pick this year is owned by Chicago with NO protection. Second, if Artest is going to NYC, Indiana would want Frye, but that is not going to happen. Who else do you take from NYC??? Marbury? No. Crawford? No. Curry? Maybe, but like you said, Indiana needs rebounding and Curry does not provide it. Plus, he has a 6 year 70 mil? contract, so I don't think it would make sense for Indiana. I just don't see NYC getting a deal done with Indiana.
great list...but I'd really put Artest at 10...especially, if you put brand at 9. His perimeter d is peerless, and the guy can score 20 easily, and 25 regularly. And I really think half the players in the league are scared of him.
Quentin Richardson, Trevor Ariza and Eddy Curry for Croshere and Artest? Marbury could also be a possibility with Tinsley heading to New York... where he would eventually back up Nate Robinson (who Isiah is huge on). Richardson gives them another strong SF who can power his way to the basket AND is a top rebounder for his position along with Bonzi Wells/McGrady. Curry... everyone wants a back to the basket scorer. Plenty of hypothetical opportunities for Sarunas and Richardson on the perimeter with opponents packing the paint. Athletic SF-PF's who can block shots are a dime-a-dozen in this league, I don't really see Swift impressing Indiana all that much. Is he much better than Hakim Warrick... Memphis is a team that could really use him.

not every team is interested. Cuban has said he will stay out of the bidding war. I don't think we have to absorb their bad contract.
By Chris Sheridan ESPN Insider Ron Artest wants to be traded, and the Indiana Pacers say they'll accommodate his request. But what can Larry Bird and Donnie Walsh get for their All-Star caliber player now that everyone knows he's on the block? Here are 44 purely speculative trade scenarios, including at least one for each of the other 29 teams, all of which would work under salary cap rules (a couple involve base-year compensation players and would need a third team as a broker). We are assuming that each team would try to get Artest, who earns $6,842,105 this season, as cheaply as possible. Rules require that the total salaries of players traded by one team not exceed that of players traded by the other team by more than 25 percent plus $100,000. Each trade scenario is rated on a plausibility scale, from 1 (highly unlikely) to 5 (makes perfect sense), taking into account the potential interest of both the Pacers and the other team to make the deal. HOUSTON ROCKETS If Artest is looking for offensive freedom, he won't find it here behind Tracy McGrady. But Carroll Dawson could still try to get him on the cheap by offering Jon Barry ($1.8 million) and Moochie Norris ($4.2 million). Plausibility rating (Barry/Norris): 1 _________________________________________________________________ Above is the espn insider article. Basicly they are saying that it is not very likely...
Another proof that ESPN hired some dumbasses there. Who is the right would want an aging SG and a guy who is more famous for his mo than his bball skills?
Oops. It should "Who in the right mind would want an aging SG and a guy who is more famous for his mo than his bball skills?"
