Fox News is reporting about the possible blood on the venetian blind. Also, they found a pair of pants with a red stain, but the Condits would not let the police take the pants with them.

The theory I hope is true is that Levy is sitting somewhere on a beach, and watching Condit's career crumble in retaliation for the way he treated her. Somebody needs to tell her it is time to come home.

What bombshell? Did they name their sources? If it was the National Enquirer, their source was most likely a crystal ball, regardless of their recent history.

You people who rail about the "liberal media" crack me up. The fact that you ought to be concerned with is the fact that 6 mega-corporations own 90% of the world's media outlets. And, no matter what the spin on the story is, liberal, conservative or anything in-between, they are shoving it down your throats and you are eating it up and asking for seconds. Think about it.

Tex, you cannot judge the veracity of any story by judging the media outlet. You have to dig deeper and look at the entire picture.

I know when I read the Drudge Report, I am getting rumors and "unfinished" reporting. I judge Matt Drudge's work through that filter.

I know when I read a major political story from the National Enquirer, that the story has been properly sourced in the same fashion that the New York Times or the Washington Post uses. They are not the Weekly World News.

The fact that so few control so much of the news makes alternative news outlets that much more important! Also, I am not "railing against the Liberal media". I read the New York Times and Salon.com because we can't get a clear picture of any story until we get "both sides".

If it makes you feel any better, that Blue Dog Condit would be a Republican if he were from the NorthEast. [IMG]

Take this for what it is worth. Interesting stuff.

XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX THURS JULY 12, 2001 15:49:00 ET XXXXX

NATIONAL ENQUIRER: CHANDRA LEVY WAS PREGNANT; HER COMPUTER, CELL PHONE WERE USED DAY AFTER SHE WENT MISSING

The NATIONAL ENQUIRER is reporting in its July 24 edition set to hit newstands on Friday that missing intern Chandra Levy was pregnant with Congressman Gary Condit's baby!

"Authorities have information that Chandra told at least one friend that she was pregnant -- and she said the baby was Condit's," a source close to the investigation disclosed to the ENQUIRER.

The ENQUIRER cites a Justice Department source:

"A friend told investigators Chandra said she was pregnant. The FBI and Washington D.C. police have subpoenaed her medical records. One investigator told me: 'We believe Levy was pregnant!'

The source also added, "The FBI does believe her disappearance is a 'love crime.'"

The ENQUIRER quotes a source who says that at least 5 women who were romantically involved with Condit are now afraid of him, and are keeping a low profile.

The ENQUIRER quotes a cousin of Chandra's, Michael Maistelman, who says that stewardess and former Condit lover Anne Marie Smiths's accounts of being followed "closely parallel" those told by Jennifer Baker, a former Condit intern and the person who introduced Levy to the congressman.

"Jennifer is getting the same kind of phone calls and is convinced she's being followed," said Maistelman, who helped the Levys get the FBI involved in the case.

According to a source at Justice, investigators "have records indicating someone used Chandra's computer the day after she was last seen on April 30, and that her cell phone had also been used on May 1."

"Her computer was definitely logged on with her password."

    DEVELOPING HOT...

Of course, that part doesn't necessarily mean anything as she very well might not have disappeared until later in the day on the 1st. Just because no one admits to seeing her after the 30th doesn't mean that she was kidnapped or whatever on the 30th.

It's sad when people are quoting the National Enquirer as a reputable source.

It's not like it's new. The Enquirer was one of the first media outlets to break the Gennifer Flowers story.

It's hard to completely discredit them when they are right sometimes.

Good job RM 95- shoot that messenger. Please conveniently avoid the Enquirer's record over the last couple of years. Please avoid the fact that the story was sourced properly.

Go ahead and find a pile of sand, and bury your head deep. [IMG]

I will take that as a compliment. I am a big believer in VERY limited government, I am very interested in exposing abuses of power.

Congressman Condit is under investigation for obstruction of justice, and subornation of perjury. More serious charges may result from this sordid affair.

At the very least, I hope Condit is run out of office. Of course, a safe return home for Chandra Levy is the best possible outcome. Unfortunately, Congressman Condit's stall tactics have decreased the probability of Chandra's safe return greatly.

And CNN had the Tailwind fiasco.

I think your objection to the Times is based more on the obvious ideological bent of their reporting than its credibility. The items they print that others "won't touch" tend to be damaging to Democratic and/or liberal causes.

That's a bit unfair. I'll grant you that the Washington Times is for the most part, fairly credible. But sometimes they do print things they really shouldn't, and they do it more often than most major newspapers.

Compare it to the Washington Post. The Post is, admittedly, quite liberal ideologically. But the quality of the staff is better, the writing is better, and they're not as quick to print things that are injurious to conservative politicians.

I think much of the problem is that most journalism students are liberals. Certainly not all of them... but the majority. So papers with a more conservative bent have trouble finding quite as high-quality writers that they like, and may end up with a few people who are better off writing propoganda.

Just an opinion, no proof to back that up [IMG].

In boston, for example, even many conservatives buy the Boston Globe over the Boston Herald because it's absurdly superior in content and style

You know, another thing that I find kind-of weird is that the CBS Evening News has not been covering the Condit/Levy story at all.

Woo-Hoo! CNN is reporting that police have confirmed that Condit has taken a lie-detector test. No details yet.

Let me translate the above statement for my conservative friends. What RocketmanTex is really saying is

"I consider anybody who disagrees with my Liberal politics, or who dares to question illegal and/or unethical behaviour by Liberal politicians to be no better than a criminal." [IMG]

BTW, the DC police were not involved in the administration of the test. Condit hired a private company to administer the test. Do you think we would have heard anything about this test if the desired results were not obtained? What a joke.

Uhhhh... that's because this is just about sex. There is no other angle that can be explored, and Dan Rather will not allow himself to be dragged down to the level of Bill O'Reilly!

Nice try, mr. paige, you fascist!

I don't know anything about this case, but in general, people should be more careful before accusing others as fascists.
