an open letter to larry the cable guy from david cross: http://www.bobanddavid.com/david.asp?artId=183
[someone post that two-smiley-fight smiley, please] WOW. I didn't know this animosity existed. It's like when Carlos MencĂa and Paul Rodriguez had a little fight. I heard one of the David Cross CDs and have it, but I don't find his "Atlanta" bit one bit funny. I don't know what it is about him to change voices in the middle of a bit without letting you know of a drastic change of impression (he begins mocking some gay dude, but even HE sounds effeminate when NOT talking about gays). It's just NOT funny.
In one of his older shows he started out with a thick Georgia accent and started talking about the KKK and abominaton this and hell fire that and all this stuff. The audience was kind of stunned for a few minutes until he broke character. It was classic.
The best part is when Cross calls him out for using a fake name, not actually being from the South, attending private schools, and the whole overpriced merchandise thing.. ZING.. His act isn't that funny, I laugh at him more than with..
"This one makes me look sad". Anyone calling David Cross P.C. is an idiot to an infinite degree. Of course, so does saying GIT-R-DONE 82 times in one bit.
But I know something about you You went to Cranbrook - that's a private school What's the matter, dog? You're embarrassed? This guy's a gangster? His real name is Clarence And Clarence lives at home wit both parents And Clarence parents have a real good marriage...
That was fantastic. I gotta say too, that I don't really find Larry the Cable Guy to be very funny at all.
Dravid Cross is hella funny.. I glad he said all the things I've been thinking about Red Neck comedy!!
So do I. Fart jokes are funny. I think Cross is a little pissed because he could do the fart jokes and make boat loads of money. He just would not be able to live with himself. Anyone one remember Andrew "Dice" Clay? There are some similarities between him and Larry the cable guy. Both are acts that play to the lowest common denominator.
I think they're both pretty funny, BUT... Unless your name is Bill Maher or Dennis Miller, please leave politics out of your set.
I don't like either one of them. I was never a Foxworthy fan. I never liked self degrading humor. Some I like are: (Not necessarily in this order) George Carlin Richard Pryor Denis Leary Bill Hicks Eddie Murphy Jim Carrey Dave Chappelle Mitch Hedberg Kevin James
I disagree, David Cross's political sets are amoung his funniest. Have you listened to his comedy albums? On Mr. Show they had some political skits but nothing like his solo album. I was just listening to one of them on my ipod today. I highly recommend them.
Larry the Cable Guy is terminally unfunny, and I suppose David Cross is valid in his rant, but jeez, Dave is such a whiiiiiiiiiiiiner.
