Did anybody hear the 610 Radio bit this morning on JVG. He quoted " If you had to ask me I'm looking for a point, wingman, and a big man " Something along the lines that he says he wants people who can give it there all ( 100 percent ) type of play and find guys through different rotations if he has to to achieve that assertiveness.

I am outraged that the Rockets contacted Spreewell. JVG has paraded all these old Knicks through here and has put the organization in a hole. Do a history of the money that has been lost or tied up through this nonsense. And we are still stuck with Ward and Ewing. Remember Rice, Spoon, Oakley, Jackson, Strickland, et al. Now an attempt to bring in a broken down over the hill unproductive Spree to further screw up the team. Outrageous! JVG just lost a supporter, that's it. I am sick of the Old Knick retirement plan and his overly conservative dreary style. I have never thought he was the right coach for Ming, the Ewing clone plan is ridiculous. He has some kind of delusional attraction to old burned out players. This team needs some fresh ideas and young, athletic players before it is too late.

I trust JVG but I don't think Spree is the answer for this team

You're mad because they contacted a player when we are 4-11? Our SGs have been absolutely pathetic this season, DA and Wesley aren't getting it done. I'm not saying I want Spree, but I understand the concern for adding a 3rd scorer to this team.

You're also acting like all those Knicks were killing our cap space when they were here. Rice was ancient history and had nothing to do w/ JVG. Oakley, Jackson, and Strickland were all on 10-day contracts IIRC. Spoon was clearly a cap saving move.

I never liked the Knickification at first, but it's as bad as you are making it out to be.

I took the end part meaning he will continue to bring in new players to the team until he finds the right mix. We'll see some trades go down after December 15th.

If Sprewell comes cheap and motivated, I am fine with him. He should bring some fire, if he comes.

I was looking for these comments earlier but I got caught up with some work (imagine that). Supposedly they are on Houston Roundball Review. I heard the quote also this morning.

...but Jeff also mentioned he wanted young players. Spree is not young. So, I guess we'll see. I woudl say with the performance from the last game, let's see what happens in the next game, and the next. Maybe it's too hasty? I don't know...maybe I'm too patient.

yeah, he said young, competitive players. that had to be a direct shot at Anderson, Alston, and to a lessor extent Swift.

Well, Ward and Ewing are currently on the payroll, and aren't the Rockets still paying Spoon and Baker? And they are paying Moochie who they got back from NY. Yes, I am still upset that they contacted Spreewell, that is crazy. He is another old player that underperformed last year for the Wolves. Do we really need more of the these?

A weak argument manages to get even weaker. Moochie is part of the ex-Knick conspiracy now?!

And your argument (whatever it is) is compelling? You didn't answer my questions. Aren't the Rockets still paying Ward, Ewing, Spoon, and Baker?

your argument of ex-knicks is weak-

Spoon played for two seasons as a Knick and Vin Baker played even less, a total of 40 games for the New York Knicks.

(VAN GUNDY WAS NOT COACH OF THE KNICKS AT THE TIME THEY PLAYED)
players get traded, but the minute they put on a Knicks jersey then come to Houston, its a conspiracy

I was against bringing him here at the first of the season, but we are 5-12 people!!! We need change. I welcome Spree!

So the amount of time they were a Knick is a factor? The point is, whether he met them at the airport and had lunch, JVG formed a relationship with these players, in some way or another, they connected, and he wants them to come and be with him. My issue is, were these acquistions in the best interest of the Rockets, or more in the best interest of JVG and his friends? That is a valid question. Was Ward the best choice for PG and a three contract? Was Ewing the best choice for Ming's coach? Get my drift? We have had a parade of JVG's friends in here and what is the net result? I say these choices were not totally objective. That is not a weak argument.

I missed it -- where does it say we contacted Spree? Oh, and it's about time we did!

EDIT: There's not even anyone on our team who played for the Knicks while JVG was coaching. Solid, do you like arguing just for the sake of it?
