I thought that the Rockets were giving Baker a chance to actually earn the money we're paying him. But I like this much better, even though I don't hold out much hope for this kid. The talent level is just that much greater between NBA points and CBA points.
Tuesday, November 29, 2005 - 12:38 PM MAURICE BAKER - CBA PLAYER OF THE WEEK November 18 - November 27 Maurice Baker played some excellent basketball this past week and he's received the honor of CBA Player of the Week. I think everyone can agree with that decision if they attended any of the first 5 Wizards games, at home or on the road. Mo posted high numbers in scoring (23.8 ppg), rebounding (9.0 rpg), assisting (8.2 apg), and stealing (3.2 spg). In the season opener at Sioux Falls, he had a game high 26 points, 11 assists, and 5 steals. In Boise, he had a game high 9 assists. In Yakima, he had a game high 28 points and 3 steals. In the home opener against Idaho, he had 18 points, 7 assists, and a game high 9 rebounds. And finally, on Saturday he had a career high/game high 33 points along with 10 rebounds and 7 assists and a game high 4 steals. He was named the "Player of the Game" after both of the home games. Mo was definitely the most deserving player of this award this week with this kind of consistency. Sure, Michigan's Alpha Bangura and Albany's TJ Thompson have put up many +30 point games, but their other stats were very low. Sioux Falls' Brandon Hunter would have probably been the second choice due to his scoring and rebounding. But the Wizards have a better record (3-2) and quarter point average (4.2) that puts them in first place in the Western Conference. Congratulations Mo and thanks for your leadership! NOTE - The CBA has decided to give the "Player of the Week" award to just one player each week this season instead of two players (one from the East and one from the West). Did a little searching http://www.dakotawizards.com/superfan.php first link to post don't know if it worked properly edit: guess so
His stats looks like a CBA version of Steve-O. no 3's, great rebs, decent assists, high turnovers. He has a 9 TO game, and two 5 TO games. I am surprised Van Gundy would choose this guy, since I didn't think he liked Francis.
Of course the overall level of talent doesn't compare to the NBA, but there are players every year to come out of that league and make an NBA team. Smush Parker played there last year and is getting real minutes for the Fakers. I think it really says something about Moochie, though, that the Rockets are hoping to upgrade the pg from the CBA. I can't believe Rudy liked him so much.
yeah! wth, did jvg get permission from bush before sending out the invitation to try him out? looks like he's an unkonwn. so far he weighs anywhere between 185 - 220 lb and his height is between 6' and 6'2''... hope he's decent in the nba level.
Anybody else think it was the Baker. I hope he doesn't make the team cause then I won't know where to go to get fresh bread.
half of the post in this thread is about people thinking it was vin baker. Don't you guys get tired of saying it over and over?
