Understandable, but it still bothers me thats how people respond and continue to think they are funny.
Actually I figured out why they make these stupid remarks, so they can just get their post count up!!! Hey guys look at me Ive post 101030324032040324 times!!
Not sure if the following is on-topic or off-topic: I thought it was a bit strange that the school was closing as well. I didn't even know about it, and I went to my 2pm class like normal. A couple minutes past 2, my professor heard about it and looked it up on the UT site. So I basically walked to class for nothing. Eh...could have been worse I guess...guess I could have had a test in that class. Quick question though for anyone who might know the answer. The website says that the school will reopen tomorrow at 10AM. What if I have a class that starts at 9:30 and ends at 11:00? I'm assuming it will just be 30 minutes shorter (10-11), although I guess I'll get a definite answer later somehow. This is my first school closure. edit: Never mind. I got my question answered.
this thread is about picking on jmftexas's spelling and grammar errors. if you can't contribute, GTFO!
Maybe they gave you the day off knowing that you'd post here and would get a good ripping? They're trying to teach you a lesson???
Are y'all (UT) still in regular class mode, or taking finals? We're taking finals starting tomorrow; today is a dead day. It will be interesting if the roads ice up, what with all our students who have to commute. I seriously might take a sleeping bag and alarm clock to my office and stay there to make sure I'm there in the morning. I have a short drive, but it involves a big hill and I have a fairly large truck. That scares me. I know from past experience that they don't like to completely cancel things. I remember in 1998 when it iced up in Austin and the elevated part of I-35 froze over around 1 a.m. on Friday or some such thing. There was like a 100-car pileup right after it froze. Fortunately, I was already back "home" for the holidays and just reading about it, but it made me think... it could have been me.
yea this closing down of UT made no sense. They said it was because there was water on roads that could freeze up and make everything slick but most of that had evaporated and it still hasn't rained. Oh well I guess its less school for me..
let me re-word this correctly for you: Actually, I have figured out why they make these genius remarks, just so they can get their post count up! "Hey guys, look at me, I've posted 3003 times!"
This is last week of regular class....monday and tuesday are "dead" days but a lot of finals are during class this week
Yea the same thing happend to me. I had an exam at 2 and then I had a presentation at 4. Now all of that is compounded with my two exams tomorow and one exam on saturday. At least the weather is different for a change.
only RM95 posts that much. and jmf, don't you post on hornfans. they jump on people a lot more than over here. you should be used to this. as for me, it sucked showing up to class at 2 and finding out it was cancelled and then just driving back. if they had sent the damn email out 10 minutes earlier i could've found out before i left. and damn some people i have a lot of tests. granted, i only have 2 classes but my last test was last friday and my finals aren't until the damn 17th and 19th so i'm on a nice break. of course research is killing me right now so i need the time off from tests.
I'm starting to think the school won't even be open at 10 am. It just started to lightly sleet at my complex, and all of the cars are already iced over. Considering it won't get above freezing until about noon tomorrow, I doubt the school is open until afternoon at the earliest, based on their conservative approach over the years.
