the link above should give you some information about her case and where to call should anyone have any information. Please it is the holidays and it saddens me to think that her son can be without his mom.

Is the husband a suspect? Sorry to be an a-hole but most of the time a wife goes missing it is the husband that is to blame. Hopefully that isn't true and there is proof clearing the husband... damn, it's said when you have to be skeptical when you hear a story like this.

no worries macalu, yes things like this really do hit home especially when you get to thinking that it could have been one of your own that this has happened to. But thanks guys for the support and I also hope that everyone is found and is ok.

The 200 block of Antoine is only about 2 miles away from my house. I'll keep my eyes open, and I hope for the best!

    that is pretty sad.

if the husband is innocent, which i am assuming he is, then this must be a really tough time for him.

    if he's not...well...

The article mentions the police suspect homicide. They wouldn't mention this if they didn't have some evidence to point to this fact. They probably already have some suspects in mind.

Man, that's sad. Seems to happen way too much in our society. :(

Don't mean to derail the thread or anything, but I would never let my wife/sister/any female relative walk the streets by herself, there is just way too many perverts out there. I shudder to think this could happen to a loved one...

Woman's body found in vacant house by team
Description fits that of a missing chiropractor; identity, cause of death not released

    By ANNE MARIE KILDAY
    Copyright 2005 Houston Chronicle

The body of a woman fitting the description of Melinda Superville was found inside a small bungalow in northwest Houston by Equusearch members, who had been searching vacant houses in the area since the chiropractor's disappearance last week.

Detective Fil Waters with the Houston Police Department said a pistol was found next to the body, but that the weapon had not been used. It appeared there was no trauma to the body, he said, and there were no signs that she was forced into the house.

The detective did not rule out suicide as the cause of death.

The Harris County Medical Examiner's Office did not release an identity or cause of death Friday night.

Sgt. David Crain said the body was discovered at 2 p.m. Friday at 2111 Antoine, a few blocks from Superville's office.

Crain said he did not know how long the body may have been inside the house.

"There were signs — matches and things — that some transients had been going in and out of there," Crain said.

    Superville — a 43-year-old mother of a 2 1/2 -year-old son — disappeared Dec. 2. from her office at 2601 Antoine.

The keys to Superville's car, house and office were found hanging in the door of the business, which she shared with her husband, Tom, also a chiropractor. Melinda Superville had walked to the office from the couple's nearby home because her car was in a repair shop.

Chuck Superville, who is the Lamar County judge and Tom's younger brother, was at the scene where the body was found.

He said his entire family is in "deep, deep grief and anguish."

His brother and sister-in-law had run a successful chiropractic clinic in the Sharpstown area before remodeling his grandparents' home in northwest Houston, Chuck Superville said.

"This is a horrible tragedy," he said. "Melinda was loved by so many people."

The younger Superville said he drove 300 miles when he got word that detectives had discovered a body.

"I can't understand how she got from there to here without anybody seeing her. This was in broad daylight," Chuck Superville said.

Martin John Deal, who identified himself as the owner of the bungalow, said, "I had no idea anybody was in there. There's always been homeless people going in and out. But I never saw them coming and going."

Crain said that after Equusearch volunteers found the body, they went to "the home of the missing person."

He was referring to the Supervilles' residence on Harland. Police officers at the home returned to the site with the searchers, Crain said.

Tim Miller with Equusearch said Melinda Superville's brother was with the search team.

I pass by that intersection everyday on the way home from work. Yesterday I passed by at 5:15 and the cops were still out there. I don't know if they had brought the body out. I didn't know what was going on because there are no news stations on the radio in the afternoon. When I got home I finally saw it. I was right across the street at that Conoco Thursday night some of you may have seen in the news. To think that lady was in there is kind of tripped out.

Sorry about your neighbor man, that's rough.

Homicide hasn't officially been ruled out yet, but it's looking like a suicide. According to HPD, there were no signs of trauma to the body, it appears she took a large quantity of unknown pills (I guess they found a bottle or something) and a gun was found by the body, but there is no evidence it was fired.

The only thing I don't understand is why she would commit suicide in an abandoned house...and leave her purse at home...and leave her keys in the door. It just doesn't add up.

The autopsy isn't complete yet, so who knows. It could all just be a cover-up attempt.
