I think I can do 20. ---------------------------------------------------------- That's right, it's that time of the year again, no not those silly movies, no not those Christmas parties, no not comp, no something even better.. It'ssssssssssssssssssss WHITE CASTLE DAY on Thursday the 15th of December Yep, those tasty morsels of pickles, bread, cheese, and beef (or at least something that sorta looks like beef), all grilled on a bed of onions, are on the way. Yummmmmm But before you start chomping, I am changing the rules a bit. Don't worry; we will still have an eating contest, where people will find out about the absolutely amazing affect that sodium combined with onions has on the human central nervous system. However, in addition to that fun, this year the contestants will be eating for a good cause, the Grand Street Settlement House. Grand Street is a terrific charity that has been helping immigrants on the lower east side for the last 90 years. Some of you may know about Grand Street, they are part of our community teamwork's program. However for those that don't, I've enclosed the link at the bottom of the page that can give a better idea of the breath of their programs and the important role they play on the lower east side. . The Grand Street needs the money, as government funding has beensignificantly reduced over the last few years, while the crucial needs for services have grown. So, this year I will be giving money to the Grand Street based on the number of burgers the winner eats (in the case of a winning team, payment will be based on the average of the team). The payout will be on a sliding scale: 1-15, $100 a burger 15-20, $500 a burger 20-25, $1000 a burger 25-30, $2000 a burger. I encourage all participants or viewers of the fun to think about coming up a similar payout, it's a great cause. As in previous years, the rules of the contest are as follows: Number is based on the number of burger eaten over 1 hour, and they NEED to stay eaten until the end of 1 hour. Pickles are optional. Cheese is optional, but highly recommended (it covers up the onion taste a bit). You can drink all you want So, good luck and may the burger be with you.at least for 60 minutes...
Ding-dong! May I interject for a second? As a Burger Shack employee for the past three years, if there's one thing I've learned, it's that if you're craving White Castle, the burgers here just don't cut it. In fact, just thinking about those tender little White Castle burgers with those little, itty-bitty grilled onions that just explode in your mouth like flavor crystals every time you bite into one... just makes me want to burn this mother down. Come on, Pookie, let's burn this mother down! Come on, Pookie! Let's burn it, Pookie! Let's burn this mother down! Let's burn it down! Let's burn it! ...so you guys maybe should just suck it up and go to White Castle.
Something about bite size burgers. it's not the same thing but I used to love those KFC chicken littles . Icould eat a ****load of those things
Is Krystal's like a White Castle? Never heard of it. But I've always wanted to eat a White Castle since seeing Harold and Kumar, only had the frozen ones. Where is the Krystals?
Yeah. Krystal's is like White Castle (actully, I kinda like Krystal's a little better). There's one on 1960 just East of Kuykendahl. Their website is kinda spiffy .
No, I gotcha back. I stopped doing those sliders years ago. A friend of mine in California calls them "Gut Grenades".
I wish we had White Castles here... Krystal sucks in comparison. It's a great "after you get drunk" stop.
Kumar: All right. Awesome. Then listen, listen - no matter what, we are not ending this night without White Castle in our stomachs. Agreed? Harold: Agreed. [shakes Kumar's hand then gives him pound] Burger Shack Employee: Wise choice. You guys might have wanted to stay away from our special sauce tonight. Me and Pookie, we added a secret ingredient. I'll give you a hint. It's semen. [bursts out laughing] Harold: [Smirks] Semen. Burger Shack Employee: Animal semen.
I fly to Chicago alot and right bythe Midway aiport there is a White Castle and I always go straight there when I land.....mmmmmmmm
