OK, you got me. Is Brooks Robinson the best you can do? Can you at least name an outfielder? Pete Rose would be just ahead of Brooks Robinson on the list of HoF great hitters? Not too hot. Robinson's no great hitter. I got Will freaking Clark beating your boy.

Pete Rose is a good hitter. He is defintely a HoF caliber player. I just think that his counting stats have made some fans overrate him.

Whaddaya gotta say about his HoF chances versus the Jackson precedent?

[yeah, yeah, i know Rose played some 3rd]

btw: You think Ripken deserved his All-Star spot at 3rd this year? It's what, his X-teenth?

Lou Brock OBP .344, slugging .410

Pete Rose played 939 games at first base, 628 at second base, 634 at third base, 671 in left field, and 595 in right field.

24 seasons, 3562 games in 5 different positions, and he only committed 213 errors.

    Overrated???? Overrated????

Pete Rose was simply one of the greatest baseballplayers of all time. Period.

OK, I'll stipulate that Rose is second only to Ruth and Williams as a hitter.

What do you think of Rose's HoF chances versus the Jackson precedent? Has MLB ever been inconsistent in applying their rules re: gambling?

Rose IS overrated if you are putting him up there with Mays, Mantle, Ruth, Williams, Cobb, Hornsby, Aaron, etc...

No question if he wasn't a sack of crap and bet on baseball he would deserve to be in the Hall, but his numbers are inflated thanks to staying in baseball for so Long. Including writing his name on the lineup card over MORE deserving players while managing for the Reds.

You Pete Apologist REALLY need to read the Pete Rose FAQ that was posted earlier thread, it answers nearly every question you have raised, ESPECIALLY the ridiculous analogy to players who use drugs.

    http://www.baseball1.com/bb-data/rose/rose-faq.html

Pete bet on baseball, he knows, baseball knows it, anyone who has read the facts of the case know it.

Pete like EVERY other MLB player KNOWS that if you bet on baseball, you get banned for life. Yet he either cared so little about the consequences or thought he was ABOVE the law, that he did it anyway. Can’t do the time don’t do the crime!

I would be somewhat more sympathetic towards Pete if he wasn’t such and absolute ass, and so are his fans! The ones who stand outside of Cooperstown EVERY year while other players are being inducted and chant crap about “Let Pete in!”

    SHUT THE F--- UP!

Why do they have to RUIN another players, who EARNED his way into the Hall, ceremony by bringing up that crap? The Pete fans who do that, ought to get banned from the Hall too. Idiots.
