To the semifinals they go..... 14-7 over Cal-Poly.....now that the number 1 team was upset in the TS bracket, does that mean that TS gets to host again next week? Jim Wacker would be proud.....eat em up CATS !! DD
my fraternity has been taligating since 3pm yesterday. my buddies there said they had never seen anything like this before....... why do i have to be stuck here in houston??? and i have no chance of going next week either since i work all day saturday.... again. but damn it's a great day for Texas football! this is exactly what this school needs.
GREAT game...i was there, again. what a win. the town is just electric. students were camping out the night before, unbelievable atmosphere. just 2 more wins.... Eat Em Up Cats!!!!!!
well........ looks like i'm GOING TO THE GAME!!!!! i'm pumped. no work friday, dont have to work til 1 on saturday, so i'm there. got one of my fraternity brothers to get me a ticket today. cant freakin wait. i really wish the greeks would get dressed up for the games like they do in the SEC.... i think that's one of the coolest traditions a school could have. regardless.... i have a full bottle of woodford reserve bourbon that's just waiting to get transfered to my flask, money in my pocket, and a ton of friends (and bars) i want to visit. if you see a guy in a button-up shirt, blazer, beat-up Texas State hat, and acting a complete fool..... it's me. EAT 'EM UP CATS!
game was SOLD OUT completely by noon monday. that's less than 24 hours after tickets went on sale...impressive. i just hope there are fellow Texas State students scalping tickets to make some cash. i asked how they sold out so fast and the guy said a lot of people ordered 20-30 tickets at a time....worries me . i got my tickets as soon as they went on sale, thankfully.
Yes. UNI plays in the UNI-dome which is where Iowa High School Football Championships are held, I've had some great times in their little dome. The fun thing for me with this game is I was accepted and almost (should have) went to Texas State. This should be a good game, two really scrappy teams.
that's bullsh!t right there. how in the hell is the school gonna allow people to purchase 20-30 tickets at a time??? i know the school hasn't had to worry about sell-outs and scalpers to the football games in 25 years (or ever), but they should have had the foresight to put a limit on tickets sold per person.... i mean, when some purchases 30 tickets at once, what is the first thing that goes through your mind? scalper, maybe??? seriously, that's bush-league right there that the school wasn't better prepared for this situation. cant say i'm surprised though.... the braintrust that runs the school is pretty much pathetic.
^^^^ so you will become one of them (scalpers)? i'm assuming those are the $5 student tickets being sold at 3x's the markup? geez..
Will this be on local (Houston) radio anywhere tonight? http://www.dmregister.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20051209/SPORTS020702/512090381/1003 Panthers face another top QB Bobcats' Nealy is tonight's challenge By ROB GRAY REGISTER STAFF WRITER December 9, 2005 San Marcos, Texas - Another week, another pro-caliber quarterback. That's what the No. 7 Northern Iowa football team faces for the third consecutive playoff game in today's Division I-AA semifinal at No. 4 Texas State. The Panthers (10-3) overcame impressive performances by Walter Payton Award finalists Erik Meyer of Eastern Washington and Ricky Santos of New Hampshire in the first two rounds. Now comes the Bobcats' strong-armed and mobile Barrick Nealy, who has thrown for 2,654 yards and 18 touchdowns, and has rushed for 1,013 yards and 13 touchdowns. "He can throw it a mile and he's making tremendous plays for them," said Northern Iowa coach Mark Farley, whose team owns a six-game win streak. "He's a big, strong athlete who can really play." Nealy's diverse offensive skills don't overshadow the Bobcats' defense. The co-Southland Conference champs (11-2) have allowed seven or fewer points four times this season - including last week's 14-7 triumph over Cal-Poly. "We need everyone to execute if we're going to be able to perform against the quality we're up against," Farley said. The Panthers spread quality across several fronts, from quarterback Eric Sanders' 18-to-4 touchdown-to-interception ratio, to John Hermann's seven sacks on defense in the past six weeks. Nine of Sanders' receivers - led by Justin Surrency with 481 yards - average at least one catch per game. "They can't come in and say there's only one thing we can do," said Surrency, who has scored a touchdown in three consecutive games. "That's why we're able to pull out so many games." David Horne's 966 yards rushing since Terrance Freeney's lingering ankle injury have also helped. Horne gained a career-high 144 yards and scored two touchdowns in last week's upset of No. 1 New Hampshire. "David has done it quietly," Farley said. "You don't see David jumping up and down. That's not David's personality. He's just going to go out and run the football." With the help of Horne's ball control, the Panthers have dominated the fourth quarter lately. During their six-game winning streak, they've outscored opponents 56-7 in the final period. "We might give up 600 yards or we might seem to be shut down on offense for three quarters, but when the fourth quarter comes and we see what we need to do, we get the job done," Surrency said. And today's job site - and work performance - will be seen on national television. "Playing on ESPN(2), I'd imagine the whole team, since they were little kids, have been dreaming about this," Northern Iowa kicker Brian Wingert said. TEXAS ST. (11-2) KICKOFF: 7 p.m. at San Marcos, Texas TV: ESPN2 SERIES: Tied, 1-1 LAST MEETING: Texas State won, 20-19, in 1994, at San Marcos. WHAT TO WATCH: Another high-wire act by Northern Iowa. The Panthers have come from behind in the second half in three of their last five wins. Linebackers Brett Koebcke and Darin Heideman lead a defense that has allowed just seven points in the fourth quarter of the last six games. Northern Iowa has never reached the championship game. Texas State won consecutive Division II titles in 1981-82, but is making its first appearance in the I-AA playoffs in school history. Bobcats quarterback Barrick Nealy has accounted for 31 touchdowns (18 passing, 13 rushing).
