Same health issues, same players available for each game, same schedule ...

Simply put, who thinks a different coach could have gotten us at least 4 more wins?

I really can't say for myself. I tend to think, everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. The "you give up something to get something" idea. It's like on NBA video games. Choosing your coaches.

    Replace JVG:
    Master - Defense
    Average - Offense
    Average - Teacher

    With Coach X:
    Average Defense
    Master Offense
    Average Teacher

    OR Coach Y:
    Average Defense
    Average Offense
    Master Teacher

I guess if I had to point a finger, I think it's more on the players and their performances. Mistake after mistake, with the addition of poor shooting.

you could create a coach using attribute points.

Well, we've lost a lot of close games, where minor coaching errors during the game could've factored into the results. You ask me, JVG gives too much playing time to Wesley and Bowen, which costs us incrementally. But 4 games? I don't think so.

The Wesley thing really bothers me though. Opposing guards are just killing us. If it's bad defensive coaching, that's obviously JVG's fault. But if it's because Wesley has lost a step, it's still JVG's fault for giving him 20+ minutes a night.

Phil Jackson would definitely find the right book to get our players to read. He'd also cross his legs a different way to get us out of our current slump.

    JVG is the man.

    Nope.

Next time, just create a poll instead. Much easier, me thinks.

There are some hard issues with JVG coaching and the current Rockets roster. Can he teach NBA players? Yes if you look at T-Macs defense after he has been coached by JVG, but watching the last game I see a team that is almost filtering JVG out now. A coaching change is coming because there's only so many times the roster will be rebuilt before Les gets tired of no results. Does it mean we are + .500? No but we might be a game or two under instead of 4-12.

Another coach probably wouldn't but much of my criticism of JVG is the players he's brought in.

Minor Clarification: Coaches don't bring players in GM's do...

I would put most of the blame on the players and a little bit on the coach. In an earlier post somebody spoke about JVG playing Wesley and how that was bad but I pose the question "Who else is he supposed to play?"...
You dance with who brought you and right now our dance partners sucks a$$. There is a reason why Portland let DA go and a reason why Memphis let Swift go so easily........I don't know, could it be THEY SUCK?!!

A different coach couldn't have made our guards hit open shots for the first 10 odd games. It would have made no difference.

Damn right we'd have 4 more wins.

It's not that hard to make this team better. JVG just forces them to lose his way.

we have some GREAT players that aren't playing up to their potential. So its got nothing to do with talent or capability, its got to do with attitude and a will to win. If thats not the coaches responsibility then I dont know what is.

Yes I think JVG can coach Defense but he seems to be lost on O and younger players. He also seems to be a glass half empty kind of guy which I think has sucked all the fun out of the players.

well it just seems like at least 3-4 of the rotation players aren't used effieciently ... they're having to play a different game, one they're not suited for...

i think you couldhave given this team to someone else for that stretch where we didn't have rafer and tmac, and a better coach could have squeezed out 3 wins for a 3-5 record instead of 0-8

To bad we didn't get to see Yao under Rudy for at least another year. We may see him better utilized soon if the losing keeps up. Lets hope it's before his 34th B-day.
