So you honestly think Yao is expendable? You have been a pretty solid advocate for Yao thus far. Besides, tmac wouldn't exactly be happy if Yao were dealt, being that Yao was the reason that he wanted to play for houston.
You're not. He's most likely out for his career. Possible Trade Partners, in my mind: Atlanta: Al Harrington, and maybe a younger guy like Donta Smith, Josh Smith, or Royal Ivey Toronto: it's a stretch, but Jalen Rose could help us and he's only on the books for one additional year Portland: Patterson and Miles are both for the taking, and I think Patterson would shape up on this squad. His toughness and competitivness would go a long way. NYK: Rose, Crawford, and Q could all be had It would be nice to steal Boozer, and he's on the block, but I don't see any possible way we could entice Sloan with our garbage Sac-town has plenty of 4s (Skinner, Thomas, Corliss) it could deal, but I doubt any would turn things around for us Mark Blount is available, but he's got a hangover contract. It won't be long before Philly looks to dump Webber, but there's a reason for it Swift would be attractive to Seattle, who needs to move Rad-man before he walks this summer. Evan
Rox are paying for the past mistakes on draft choices, trades and FA signings. Rox is lucky in having T-mac, a top 5 talent, and Yao, a top 20 talent. Without Yao or T-mac, you are looking at the Orlando Magic 3 years ago, the Hawks today, and more importantly, no young talent at all. Seriously, CD's day should be over the same year when Rudy T was let go. Les made a huge mistake in keeping him. Now you let JVG make personnel decisions, it is a disaster because coaches should never be allowed to make personnel decisions. I don't think CD can turn this ship around. The PG and SG positions are really weak. Last year, Rox at least has Sura, this year, nobody.
If you asked me, the only Rockets earning their playing time right now are Yao and our rookie, Luther Head. Hell, even Moochie played hard last game. Wesley looks terrible out there. DA isn't getting it done. Howard's inconsistent. Swift's lost. Deke's old. Everyone else is hurt.
It would actually be very nice. I love Stevie. I think his heart is still with the Rockets, if he can get the second chance, he would give his best to do better. I know it's not possible. But hey, impossible is nothing
That pretty much sums it up. I just don't see what options we do have that could really help us right now. It wouldn't surprise me to see Mooch and Head start tomorrow night, but big deal.
Bring on Rudy T as Head Coach, but more in a supervisory capacity. Bring in Mario Ellie and make him almost co- Head Coach and the head game coach. (Don't want Rudy killing himself with stress or stress related problems) Mario is one of the best young assistant coaches in the league, tough, intense, and knowledgable. Also, bring in Calvin Murphy as assistant coach. Let Mario pick the other assistant coaches. The team I saw, live, against Memphis was souless, effortless, ballless, brainless, coachless, joyless, defensles, offensive only to watch. This is JVG's result after these years coaching here. I like JVG, but Houston deserves some joy out of the Rockets.
"Joyless," and that really concerns me. This is supposed to be a "fun" game. I love to see players having fun. I saw the Cougars game against Arizonia, wow, what a difference.
The Uof H comparison has merit. And I'm the first to admit that I've knocked posts back in the Steve/Cat era (even before JVG) that "unleashing them" would make us better. I didn't bash JVG at all when we were 6-11 last year - I tend to be patient - but alarm bells have been really ringing since our first regular season game. And since I didn't see any semblance of a rotation in the preseason I am beginning to think JVG's comments were a self-serving and self-fulfilled prophesy. At the start of the season when we were healthy this team looked uptight to me. And now with all the injuries and our 4-11 record (and imminent "changes") I wonder what will get better or worse. I don't want JVG fired, but I do want him to react to what are limited options are and not alienate the assets we have - although I'm also beginning to wonder if that hasn't already happened. Sadly, the one guy that can span whatever gulf that exists is T-Mac. And he's sounding weary and insisting he's not injured. I do think Yao is more confused now than when he was a rookie. I do think this team plays scared and it it time for JVG to get busy. He doesn't need to bench himself, he needs to understand individual comfort zones and try to salvage this year. Re: my Coogs, they are weak inside and hell-on-earth for teams that can't match their speed, but they are a fun team to watch.
What are the changes? I've checked this board for 3 times today expecting to read THE news. Nothing yet!
lol was kinda expecting the same thing myself hoping one of our insiders would bring word of a big trade/signing
