Can someone please tell me why Bush has it locked up, aside from the media being all over his nut sack? Yes, he has great numbers, but so does Vince. Young's numbers would be even better if UT weren't killing teams every week. I also think Young is more valuable to his team....
Not to derail the post, but Vince Young has verbally told the team that he will return. Take that for what it is.
Heisman is awarded to the best college player in the nation with the best numbers. Reggie Bush's average of 9 yards per carry (or something like that) and something like 3000 all-purpose yards (exaggeration) is exactly why he'll win the Heisman. I hope Vince Young gets it, but that won't happen because of all the media hype surrounding Reggie Bush. That being said, if Vince Young gets mad because he didn't win the Heisman and totally owns USC come Rose Bowl time, I wouldn't complain at all.
lol. Are you saying USC isn't killing teams every week? Reggie Bush had 230 rushing in the first half today. I like Texas and VY, but it won't even be close. The heisman is for the best college football player in the nation, not the one who is more valuable to his team.
Not to the extent Texas has. Texas has had more games decided at the half than USC, leading to more opportunities in the second half with the playcalling aggressive. Yes, today Reggie's numbers at the half were dominant enough for the entire game. But that's not always the case. I wouldn't give Bush the Heisman because I'm still more afraid of the USC passing attack than I am their ground game. From my perspective (and it takes more than two games against the incredibly soft defenses of Fresno and UCLA to change that), the resources defenses have to commit to defend the pass leave gaping holes that tons of backs could run through. Lendale White isn't all that special of a back imo and he's still well over 6 YPC in the USC offense. White actually averaged more YPC today than Bush, fwiw. But, the two players are relatively close and when one is the media darling from LA, it's not even worth arguing. I know the race is over - it was over two weeks ago. I know Bush will win by a large margin - all I'm discussing is what I think deserves to happen, not what will.
Reggie Bush is a hell of a player, but don't forget Lendale White also was ripping off carries at ten yards a pop today. I still think White is going to be the go to guy against Texas.
I agree. White will be the gamebreaker but Bush will hog all the credit in the 4th quarter. I don't think Texas can stop all three.
Texas will win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Texas's D will somewhat slow down USC, but USC's D will come nowhere close to slowing down Texas's O. HOOOOKEM HORNS!
He's got 2611 all-purpose yards total. What's even scarier about that number is that number is that he averaged only 15.5 carries per game and had 2 games where he only carried the ball 8 times each! Scary to think what he would have done if he was a featured back.
Its kind of hard to argue with Bush, but Vince has a strong case. Now he's the highest rated passer through the season. thrown 26 tds to 10 interceptions, and added 850 rush yds and 8 rush tds. that's one of the better individual seasons you will see out of a qb.
What he said...I think Bush will win it, although I truly believe Vince should...Its a matter of what have you done for me lately and lately, Bush has come up big...Vince, not so much...If people look at the entire Season, Vince should win, and USC has White, so it could be anyone behind that line... I think Texas will win also, just better both sides of the ball...
I like the way longhorns are complaining that Reggie wins it b/c of the media hype. You have got to be kidding, right?
If the Texans get the number one pick, what do you guys think the chances are of Bush pulling an Eli Manning and not accept the Texans taking him? Thats one thing I'm scared to death of.
