Do you think Swift could be invited to this year's dunk competition since it's in Houston?

i don't think so. i believe it's for only first 3 year players. which is stupid but the dunk contest just isn't what it used to be anymore.

That would be a good training for him since he missed 2 easy alley hoops early this season.

Lol, seeing as how Chris Anderson got an invite last year; Stro definitely merits one for this year's contest.

yeah, josh smith turned in a very good performance last year and jrich was terrific a couple years back but the event itself doesn't have the big names and the fan fare it used to. the arena used to have a buzz when there was a dunk contest, now it's just ho hum, no one is standing up or cheering. not a whole lot of ooohhhing and awwwwing. the fans suck and the presentation sucks. yeah, there are some nasty dunks being turned in, but no one really gives a damn when josh smith is dunking...his name just isn't there yet and i'm not sure it will ever be. for the dunk contest to be what it used to, you have to get the stars in it. vince, tmac, kobe, etc....not rookies and 2nd year guys who have barely seen play.

The reason this will never happen again is because these 2nd and 3rd year guys have nothing to lose. If T-mac or Kobe or Vince come into the dunk contest, there is a chance they might lose or lose badly. This could hurt their image, especially if its against some no-name kid like Josh Smith. This is probably why Lebron didnt join either. If they win, its what everyone expected. So there is not benefit for them to join.

The only way to make it interesting now is if they do what I beleive Vince has mentioned. Raise the goal to 11ft. Now that would be freaking amazing if they just got a dunk off.

But doesn't the dunk contest require creativity? THat's a pretty important aspect.

Of course we can just have Rafer put on a show, dribbling around like crazy and then pass it up to Swift to dunk it (YEah, Amare and Nash, I'm looking at you two)

Swift was already in the Dunk Contest:

2001 Dunk Contest during the NBA's All-Star weekend in Washington, DC

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/basketball/nba/2001/all_star/news/2001/02/10/slamdunk_contest_ap/

"There were nearly as many misses as makes that had the crowd at the MCI Center muffling laughter. In addition, Indiana's Jonathan Bender and Vancouver's Stromile Swift both were in violation of contest rules in the first round.

Bender missed his first dunk, then immediately replaced it as he went out of turn. For his last dunk, Swift held up the competition for three minutes looking for an empty chair before being told that props were not allowed."

    :D lol smart smart!
