Hmm i think that Oasis is pretty sweet looking, I want one. I guess many of us have bad taste in furniture? I'm not sure what brand it is, but I bought our leather recliners at Gallery a few years back. I wish I would have sprung the extra money for a La-Z-Boy. My favorite features of the LZB's is that you can recline and then kick it back another few nothes, and you can lean back without having to pull out the leg rest.....my chair doesn't do that.
i shouldn't have opened my big mouth. i just don't like bigtexxx, plain and simple, and couldn't help myself. moe's comment was totally juvenile, but whatever hey, everyone has different tastes. go for it guys.
As much as I like to hassel bigtexxx, if he said he bought that chair, all you had to do was look up the price. I don't think he was bragging. no need to lock it up though, this is interesting.
I bought a set of Couch from Foley's 4 month ago ($1799 before tax and delivery for a Sofa, a Chair and an Ottaman), they are cheap but the quality is average.
Star Furniture has some of the best deals I've seen in town. They always seem to be consistant as far as price and quality. Hilton is a crook, who cares if he is a rockets fan. You shouldn't have to go negotiate for the lowest price when his competition always bets there prices. Also, he stole his slogan from a crackhead from Gallery furniture.
I think Foley's has great deals, and I think their quality is average. its not high-end but its not cheap either.
I used to work with a guy that got all of his furniture online from furniture manufacturers and wholesalers in North Carolina (center of the industry). He said the discounts were huge.
It really depends on when you go there. North Carolina as "The Furniture Capital of the World" has lost quite a bit of the lust lately.
I went to Lo's Art and Furniture yesterday (thanks for the tip, ima_drummer2k) .... they seem to have good prices. A big warehouse full of stuff ... they sell a lot of Avery furniture. A leather set was around $2200 or so. I also went to the Storehouse on 249 ... that was my first time there. Nice stuff, but not sure it was as casual in style as I am. Mentioned the Clearance outlet on Fondren (thanks to coma) and it was interesting to hear the saleslady (who was nice) kind of bag on it. "Oh yeah, you can go there to buy like broken stuff... they fix things there, etc." I don't think she wanted me to go to Fondren
No disrespect meant, but that was an obvious lame attempt to get at bigtexxx (not like he wouldn't say it, but whatever) I happen to work for a La-Z-Boy retailer I can assure you that our chairs are high quality. I could get La-Z-boys for myself at a little over wholesale cost. BUT, My house and my friends houses are stocked full of barely used furniture thanks to me. You'd be amazed at some of that stuff people want us to haul away. I'm kicking back in a La-Z-Boy recliner right now that was maybe a year old at best and hardly sat in at all. My parents have a 800 dollar recliner and 2 sofas I got for them for free. My friend has a sleeper sofa and a recliner, both still in good condition, my other co-workers also have a lot of great stuff that (old) people just tossed to make room for newer styles.
lame or not, i thought it patently obvious that the chair was hideous, i was wrong. to each his own. i have a La-Z-Boy recliner in my library. SHHHHHH

In Houston I would go with Foleys or Star. Both might be perceived as expensive but in reality provide good to better furniture at very competitive pricing. No BSing at either as well. Those of you who feel good about negotiating a lower price were starting at a higher price to begin with. Star has a 21 day happiness guarantee, meaning if you are not satisfied within 21 days of delivery they will pick up your furniture and refund your money.
Ok why are you spamming my e-mail from this site?? I'm sure your family has a great store, but I do not want to get e-mails to go "check it out"..
