I have some broad shoulders too. My brother is about your size and I tried a jacket of his on last night and was like "Fat guy in a little coat!"

fatty once mentioned them in a thread and I think he said it was last year's suits from the department stores but I also bought a suit from there and as long as I don't make a lot of money I won't buy one anywhere else.

Just my .02, but you shouldn't skimp out on a suit.

One should always have at least one power suit, pressed and ready to go at any given time. A good suit is a good investment. You don't want people who are knowledgable look at your suit and deduce any bad judgements about you.

Spend a few hundred and get a tailored suit, or visit Joseph A. Banks.

    Again, just my .02.

It wouldn't be a problem if I didn't need to wear it in 3 hours... I agree a suit is a good investment but at the moment I just need a quick one-time-wear job.

I was thinking the same thing. Knowledgeable people can spot an off the rack suit a mile away.

I really like K+G. The suits aren't the best quality, but they do look pretty nice, and the one at I-10/Beltway 8 has a great selection. They always have great customer service too. I've gotten two suits from them, and my brother has as well. JC Pennys sometimes has fantastic deals on suits too.

BTW, Svpernaut, if you don't really care about it being a really nice suit, just something sort of decent, Target sells sportcoats and matching pants that aren't half-bad looking. It's probably not job-interview quality, but I'd say it's Christmas party, work/casual worthy.

I think that's good advice but I don't think you have to go as far as getting a tailored suit, unless you come into a some money and want to drop a little extra. but I do believe you definitely should have one nice suit.

as far as the place syms is concerned, that's why I tried to stress department store quality. I haven't been to suitmart in a while, but I did go into a K&G about a year ago and those were not very high quality. but they are cheap (price-wise). From what I remember suitmart was the same way.

Thanks for the head's up about the selection at the I-10 K&G, I'll head there if Syms doesn't have anything. Now that I think about it my father used to drive to Dallas for Syms before they opened a store in Houston while I was growing up... thanks for all the help guys, I'm headed out in about 15 minutes or so to try and score one.
