I agree! Matt and Adam have the best show on 610. Mark and Rich are unlistenable 90% of the time, I voted Charlie.
I listen to Michael Savage on my way home... other then John and Lance for about an hour in the morning I've given up on Sports Talk Radio... the ignorant callers are a turn off.
do you really??? i turn that on sometimes and it's soooo stressful..i don't have much of a commute anymore because i live so close to where i work...but i can't even listen to it for my 5 minute ride home.
Why don't you like guys who mock girls who have been kidnapped and raped? I don't understand why anyone wouldn't want to listen to Savage.
who did he mock like that? he's just so beligerrent...did i spell that right??. probably not. it's just too much. even if it's schtick....after a day at work, i don't have the energy to listen to it.
Charlie knows more about sports than both Rich and Marc put together, but I flip. The problem with Rich and Marc is that neither of them are big basketball guys. Marc knows the college game, but as the flagship for the Rockets, I would think they would want to know more about the team that shows up on their station. I like Rich as a talk show guy when he is alongside someone like Charlie. They balance each other well. I'm not a fan of Marc's as a talk show guy. The weird voice stuff, the rock and roll trivia, the sound fx...it's not an interesting schtick. It's tough to listen to Charlie by himself sometimes. It just gets a little dry and he can go on and on about specific stats and concepts that can get stale. By far, my favorite of all of them is Matt and Adam. When they brought Adam back, that show got really really good instantly. Those guys have excellent chemistry and know a lot about sports. That's a fun show.
I don't think Marc knows the college game all that well. It seems like all his college basketball comments begin with, "you know, I called that game in the tournament last year, so..." like being an announcer for a couple of games instantly makes you an expert on those teams. Rich has grown on me. I just don't listen to sports radio all that much anymore. Honestly, it's the callers' fault for that.
Why these guys aren't the drivetime players is beyond me. Why are the people at 610 so enamored with Rich Bored and Marc Yawndermeer. Just because they have more experience doesn't mean they are better qualified for the drivetime slot. Matt Jackson is like Hunter Pence, their organizations are bringing them up too slowly.
Get your d&d fix where you can, brother. Good work. Savage is a vile human being. There's probably about 2 cumulative hours per day off good informative sportstalk on 610 (split b/t the morning show & matt/adam) The rest is, well, not. John & Lance can definitely be entertaining, regardless. Harbison is dry, but very, very informative. Always liked Palillo, despite his know-it-all-itude. Haven't listened to much of his solo show, but from what I've heard he needs a partner.
LOL! I second that. Seriously though, no one is better than MattJ and Adam together, you just get a sense that they know Houston sports darn well and are passionate about it. They're more rooted into Houston sports, IMO. Marc and Rich? Two out-of-towners that love talking about their hippy days and hippy bands, and Marc is hardly a sports guy, he just loves to go on tangents and talk about something completely unrelated to sports, like he used to do on the morning show (thank God it's John and Lance now, they're at least entertaining). I like the morning guys, I love the night shift guys, and I am indifferent/dislike listening to Rich "Amateur Journalism" Lord and Marc "I am only here because of my voice" Vandermeer.
Matt & Adam are the best hands down. I sometimes can't even listen to the other guys, they always seem to try and say the "right" things or be politically correct instead of saying how they really feel. Matt and Adam let it all hang out.
Too bad they sound like they are 15. I don't listened to them becuase their voices get so high pitched like little girls. And they get all hyper like the DJs on The Buzz that I would like to kill. Edit: But I do like their substance.
I tend to flip back and forth but I checked Marc and Rich because I work here. Oh and because I only listen to The Animal because of the "competitive analysis reports" I have to do. When the animal makes that jump from obscurity to "almost slightly mattering" in the ratings book I'll pay more attention to them but for now my monthly tune in is serving me fine. dean and rog do, however, have a great show and this is a concern competitively, unlike the afternoons. Well, Chris baker and, to a lesser extent, Hannity do well but The Animal's is the last thing on KC's mind. With Sam Malone in a transitional book, Mega flopping around, and no hot-topic political stuff for his other AMs his hands are full. Oh and with everyone listening to KSBJ for their Christmas fix at this time of year. On the animal, they are programming on the strength of Dan Patrick and CP. CP is good. Hell, he's great. but he sucks by himself and don't argue otherwise. Bitterness and sarcasm need a balance and without someone to apologize for charlie's (usually right) opinions he alienates too many people. His numbers have gone down since a big sampling splash when he hit the air. there.
I heard chance call in yesterday when they were talking about endowment. Did anyone else catch that? It was funny.
nah. You guys have opnions and if you think marc and or rich suck that's cool. Can't please everyone. I happen to like them that's all.
