TMac is clearly the better player, but without Yao, we have no inside presence on this team. Without Yao, TMac is playing with Dikembe, David Wesley, Juwan Howard, and Luther Head, and we're looking at a team that's not any better than McGrady's 21 win Orlando team. As for Yao's performance the last few games, yeah, I'm disappointed. But it's also pretty obvious that teams are game-planning to take Yao out of the game and let the likes of Ryan Bowen beat them.
It's a known fact that after so many rule changes, the league has become perimeter dominated and the real stars are the guards or swingman that can handle the ball. We will see how Amare perform without a dominating perimeter player when he is constantly double teamed.
Yes, the team can deal without Yao, and will win, but I think what people forget is that just as defenses have been designed to stop Yao, this Orlando team that people talk about, although less talented than this Rockets team not by much) had TMac as an option only. And guess what, every team that they played designed their defense to stop TMac. And guess what again, they didn't win.
Tim Breaux has something to say...so ear holes open everybody... Basketball is meant to be played as a TEAM. Professional basketball teams specialize at taking the best 500 BB players in the world and putting them into a formula that equals wins....taking into account many interesting variables...like money available, personnel...system instituted, etc. It's like baking a cake... all the right ingrediants placed in an oven that is "off" equals nuthin... By the same token...all ingrediants placed in an oven with an oven that is too hot equals nuthin... The cake has to have the proper ingrediants...cooked at the right temp...for the right time... This would equal? ... a damn good cake... for those of you not paying attention... INGREDIANTS (EGGS/CAKE MIX/MILK/EGGS) = Players OVEN TEMP = JVG and staff. So...in a way...Yao without T-mac was like trying to make a cake without the cake mix...temp was right...time was right...mixture was wrong...MAIN ingrediant missing... T-mac without Yao would be equally bad...it would be like tryin to cook a cake without the eggs...NOT the MAIN ingrediant...but without eggs...that cake ain't gonna win no awards... Let's hope that Yao and T-mac stay healthy and we don't have to worry about it none...and we can just cook this cake...and win some awards. That's nice....came out better than I expected it to... Tim Breaux has spoken...now it's back to the end of the bench...where I'll be...til called upon.
I'll bet you that Yao's contract can be moved in a matter of days, if not hours, any time Rockets entertain that idea.
I agree. Rockets' fan response to their players like stock market a few years back. They are changing so fast that you may wonder if Yao already becomes Bradley.
On a side note, Sabonis' old coach, the legendary Russian coach who just passed away, once said if he could coach Yao for two years he'll make Yao another Sabonis.
Yao IS as good as Sabonis. The problem is in our system Yao needs to be more of a Shaq than a Sabonis. Yao's game under JVG is 90% low post attack and score. Sabonis used to shoot jumpers all the timel. He was a finese player. Yao is a finesse player too, but he's being asked to be a lot more physical down low.
So Mac comes in, establishes himself as the best player for well over a year, and now yall just expect Yao to have the super mental toughness and whatever that he has never really needed? That's dumb. Whatever this thread is dumb. How about People in the NBA don't respect Yao so they' try harder aganist him, they mentally ignore how good he is and always treat him as though he's new. Why? Because ballers are haters. zzzzzzzzzzzzz No i'm not being serious -_- Do you think KG was exposed when the wolves went down hill? Hmm yea I think he was. KG is not a great player, he does a bunch of things but he doesnt step up in the end. Cassel was the one bailing them out in the end during their one year on the top. So, since KG is proven to be a bad player without a competent team, let's give Yao some slacks.... Right............ =\ I'm just ranting sry
Overall it is individualism that Yao needs to learn... coz such thing is forbidden from where he's from. FYI, some 2004 Olympic medal winners in China were expelled from practice, and the reason is that they are exposed too frequently on TV/interview/radio and the coach thinks that they put themselves above their country. What Yao is going through is more than just playing basketball...
I always read this, If Sabonis came to NBa during his heyday, he will be the best center in the nba. I never saw sabonis played in his prime, does anyone of you do??? Any one has video clip of sabonis' prime???
Last time I checked the stats Yao was averaging: 33.3 mpg .482 fg% .811 ft% 9.10 rebs 1.3 apg .73 spg 1.6 bpg 2.67 topg 19.3 ppg Not to shabby if you ask me... Sure there is room for improvement but geez how many other players in the league are putting up these numbers? How many of you bashing him in this thread could even come close? I would guess less then 20 as the answer to the first question and far below that for the second. He is never going to be lightning quick or be able to jump out of the building, he just isn't built for that so get over it already. I think some of the expectations put on him by the "so called experts" is pretty unrealistic and find it humorously ironic when these same experts bash him for coming up short to their expectations of him. I would be interested if anyone has the stats for the field goal percentages of the other Rockets players in the games we have lost (and not had T-Mac in the lineup)? I would wager they are pretty bad....hmmm reminds me of back when Hakeem was getting bashed in the late 80's / early 90's and didn't have any quality players around him and then all of a sudden a few player changes later his is getting an NBA title...hmmmm
These Yao lovers are getting really annoying now. They fantasize so much about Yao Ming exposing himself that they felt the urge to start a thread on it. Sad.
But he's 7'6". That means he should be getting 35 points and 20 boards a game. If it wasn't for Chinese culture or his ma wasn't such a b*tch - he wouldn't be such a p*ssy. He has to WANT to DOMINATE and he needs more OOMPH. If you think 19 pts and 9 boards is good - then you're a YOF. I'm being sarcastic. You should read some of the earliest posts about Yao. Many of the current bashers on record saying that they would be more than happy with 18/8.
With his bulk, Yao can imitate Shaq for stretches. He can bump away and bulldoze over people for layups or dunks, but the refs don't treat him as Shaq on offense. So Yao can't get away with the benefit of being Shaq. On defense, they have a 180 degrees turnaround by treating Yao as Shaq, allowing the defenders to pull "hack a Yao". Forcing Yao to be Shaq is to expose Yao. There's no benefits of being Shaq but the disadvantages.
I'll like a link to that thanks. Sabonis in his prime, could play Small Foward, Poward forward and Center. his passing was good as a point guard. if yao even reaches 60% of sabnis prime, he'll be a awesome player.
