    Guys,

Say I have a domain that I would like to re-direct to a specific file or folder on another domain. How do I do that?

Do I just simply have to notify my provider and tell them where I want it pointed?

For example, if I owned www.sitx.com and I wanted it to point to www.sitey.com/sitex/ , how does that get done?

The idea here is that I wouldn't need a separate hosting account for a specific domain. I am putting together a band project and I'd like to simply put that site in a folder on my current production company site. Make sense?

You could use MyDomain.com to do a cloaked redirect of the doamin you want redirected to the part of your other domain that you want it to go to. I'm sure the host can do it, too, but MyDomain is free and easy to use, so that's a possible option (for a while, I had AntiBud.com just pointing to HoustonSportsBoard.com/AntiBud.html. But the whole time people were looking at the page, the address bar said it was AntiBud.com).

At any rate, it's something to check out that does (I think) what you want to do.

    Jeff,

There are some domain hosting companies that will allow you to host a 2nd domain in a subfolder of your existing domain. They'll charge about $5/month extra or so. Both domains will end up using your original domain's allotted space in most cases, but then again in most cases most people don't put that much stuff out in their folders.

Can't you put a HTML pointer in the header of the index HTML file that automatically goes to that address?

    Jeff,

I don't think you need anything special, if I am reading your needs correctly. All you need to do is make a directory called "newfolder" (or such) off of your web directory (domain name) that you own.

You do not need to do a redirect *unless* you want one typed address to really mean another. Sounds like you are merely asking for a new folder.
