I'm sure a lot of you have Gonzalez stories being in Texas an all, but I just wanted to say I'm pulling for the guy because I met the him when he played for the Auburn Astros in New York. I asked him if he though he could beat out Caminiti at Third base. He said, "Nope, That guy is pretty darn good." Every year Luis does it over and over again. I'm still amazed he turned out this good, but he's a nice guy, and deserves it. He turned a Triple play that year and I got to see it, woo hoo! A comedy of errors, but it was still a triple play. ------------------ humble, but hungry. [This message has been edited by PhiSlammaJamma (edited July 05, 2001).]
Definitely rooting for Gonzo, though I'm not one to miss him on the Stro's. We have 4 very good OF's. ------------------ "norm, would you like to buy an indian scalp ? This deal isn't gonna make or break me Norm, so don't jerk me around." Harry Carey "Norm, if I had a mohawk scalp, I wouldn't be sitting here talking to you."
I like Gonzo but am rooting for Bonds. When he retires, people will look at his numbers and go WOW. He hasn't gotten the media attention he deserves (though its probably his own fault) If he played for the Yankees (a very strong possibility next season) he would be as big as Reggie Jackson was. Phi, I have a similar story with Pat Burrell of the Phillies. He played for the Phillies Triple A team here in Scranton (the Red Barons) and I met him in the Stadium bar after a playoff game. I said "So your the next Mike Schmidt?" He laughed and said " I just hope I can be half as good as he was" ------------------ "For there is nothing either good or bad, thinking makes it so." - William Shakespeare (1564-1616), Hamlet [This message has been edited by BobFinn* (edited July 05, 2001).]
I'm with Bonds on this, but LuGo is on one of my fantasy teams. ------------------ Ceo of the Walt Williams and Lisa Malosky fan club. atheistalliance.org
