Reading comprehension 101, dude. Are you willfully ignorant, or do you have no choice at it? When I say "RM95 has never logged into my account" that would mean this is not RM95. Really, why do you even bother posting if you can't read?

And yes, by the way, if you had asked a different question, my answer would have been different. Shocking how that works.

No, because that would pretty much wipe out the forum. ;)

The usual suspects are derailing the thread.

And bigtexxx, yes, you caught me, I am the Ohio mosque guy.

As for those who're interested in a serious discussin of the topic, the reason why I am confused by this is that the government has more or less convicted this guy in public forum, and for all intents and purposes has ruined whatever is left of his life (career-wise, do you imagine anyone giving this guy anything if he was found innocent of all charges? What would be his recourse then?)

I find it incredibly ironic that the same posters who are running around saying that it's wrong to convict people who haven't been tried yet are the ones quick to assume this guy's guilt and not provide him with the same "benefit of the doubt". If he's guilty, by all means try him and put him to death if convicted. I would be very much for that, not a problem there. However, to slander this guy in public for nearly 4 years and then to charge him for lesser crimes is fishy to say the least.

Sishir, I know what you're saying regarding the risks of charging him for the attempted detonation of a bomb on US soil, and that was brought up in a few of articles I came across.

Personally speaking, I tend to believe that the government wouldn't go to such lengths to keep this guy as an "enemy combatant" if they didn't honestly believe he was a major threat. However, with him being an American citizen (not a foreigner), there is simply no excuse for suspending his rights as a citizen just because he's accused of a crime.

So, bigtexxx, tell me now: do you believe in the right to have timely access to the legal system to defend yourself against charges brought against you, or not? Simple question, I want a simple answer.

i honestly beleive that the constitution limits the governments power. the government has no power that is not stated in the constitution. and similarly if a power is limited by the constitution the power is limited.

the notion (that unfortunately the courts have upheld) that the constitution can be limited in foreign soil or against certainly non citizens in certain situations is mind boggling. how does the gov't have that power to detain foreigners indefinitely if its not stated in the constitution?

sorry for the tangent. but i think this issue is critical.

Fair point, but in this case the suspect is an AMERICAN, not a foreigner.

Padilla voted for Gore in 2000, so he is getting what he deserves. You are either with us or with Satan/OBL/Saddam.

Karl Rove leaked a covert CIA agent, which was a treanous act. Do you think Rove and Padilla should share a cell before we fry their sorry *sses?

Why was Karl Rove not charged with a crime? A little wishful thinking on your part, perhaps.
