It's actually the exact opposite. Opponents attack the basket when Yao's on the floor and they try to avoid Dikembe. Everybody knows if you drive hard in the paint, Yao doesn't have the coordination to be able to move quickly and recover for a block. Most of the time they either get a layup or a soft foul from Yao when he's standing like a statue with his arms raised.

I have watched all the games this season and Yao is very easy to attack. He only prevents 5-10% percent of the drives from becoming scores. That's not very good

OMG! It is quite obvious that you did not watch the game so quit posting nonsense. He might not of done much offensively in the first three quarters but to say he did not have impact defensively is false and asinine.

Yao changed a ton of shots, blocked shots, rebounded, rotated well ... closed the lane a few times and caused deflections. He did what a player is supposed to do when they are struggling to get going offensively.

We wateched every game too. Yao altered more shots than you give him credit for. Yao basiclly challenges all the shots in the paint, the opposing centers only have a 41% fg percentage against Yao before this game, which is way below league average. Anyway, when Yao is on the court, Rockets don't lose much ground, +0 before this game. But when he sits, Rockets -57 before this one. And Yao played 68% of max time allowed. Go figure.

Either you are blinded with your anger or you are a fool. Deke, for whatever reason, is not as effective on D as last year.

I wish JVG quit double teaming opponents in the paint. We've been beaten by perimeter shootings down the stretch in almost every single game. Gasol was struggling all night long and why did you send 2nd offender to him? Stop sending Yao to trap ball handlers. Our D is weakest when opponent guards blew by Yao, which is quite often.

Exactly. why would a slow footed 7'6 humongus center be used as a help defender on top of the key. it's gonna result in a uncontested layup, dunk or a foul.

I may be a blind Rockets fan, but I still like Yao and I think he's gotten better.
He loses the ball a lot, but I think the refs swallow a lot of their whistles..they don't call some stuff for Yao! :/

I think we tried hard tonight. We just lost. Stromile and Head both made a few mistakes. Even Barry did..

DA and Wesley looked all right. Howard looks like usual..he made some outside jumpers..but he's usually a step slower than the rest of the guys. A solid player.

They just made a bunch of outside shots. They have good shooters.Knocked them down. I wasn't that impressed with Pau Gasol. I wouldn't mind having Lorenzen Wright.

I think we'll recover..Tmac comes back and we mesh as a team..develop into a good team like we did last season.

You forgot 8 assists and the win.

I am trying to figure this out: with T Mac the Rockets are supposed to be the 2nd best team in the West but w/o T Mac they are the worse team in the league?

    T Mac for MVP!

Screw it Yao for MVP!!!!! :p

That's just 'experts' hype and you know it, experts have to say something stupid before every season starts and make predictions and then attempt to retract their earlier statements as the season rolls on.

I think it's a foregone conclusion that even if T-Mac doesn't play another game this season, he should get the MVP trophy. I think it's difficult to find another player that has more effect on the outcome of games for his team than this guy does. It probably makes his case stronger when the rest of the league watches the Rockets play without him than when he plays.

Well, T Mac was my preseason MVP pick and I think the Rockets will still win 50 games (all kidding aside) and with the precedent set last season, he should win it.

So if the Rockets will win 50+ and the Grizzlies finish ahead of them, are you predicting 55+ for the Grizz? :p

Nope, my life is fine just the way is. I just call them as I see them. And I'll reiterate...you are a dumbass, if not for a self-inflated sense of basketball knowledge, then for the incessant usage of "dang'ol" or for making fun of someone else's English like some idiotic 3rd grader. You want Yao to deal with the defender by throwing the defender behind him? I think something like that could arguably constitute a flagrant foul. Right...that'd be a smart move. :p

Incidentally, the term "Gan" in "Gan ni ma" is generally only used in Taiwan. Mainlanders like zhao use the term "Cao." It seems to me you have self-inflated sense of Chinese knowledge as well.

I've seen your type before. You're just some college student sitting in his dorm room who thinks he knows more about everything than anyone else.
