Who here watches the best comedy on tv?

    Sorry AD people.

Dwight is the man. He was just on Conan the other night.

Arrested Development is better than The Office. But since AD is now cancelled, The Office by default is the best comedy series on television.

It is a great show though. Aside from AD, no other comedy makes me laugh out loud at least a half dozen times each episode. This week's was another classic.

I absolutely love this show. Tuesday nights rock for TV (The Office, Boston Legal, Nip/Tuck).

Yep, The Office has saved sitcoms for me. It's the only show I watch right now, it's absolutely hilarious. It's the new Seinfeld.

The Office is awesome. It's best shows are truly inspired, and it's poorest shows aren't that bad either.

The only thing I wonder about is this whole office romance subplot with Jim and Pam. I worry that they will drag this out too long and ruin the show. With the British Office, the entire series only lasted 12 episodes and a special to wrap up all the loose ends. The romance came to a head quickly and got played out without having to stretch the storyline out at all. But if the US version can last a few years, at 20+ episodes per, I could see this storyline getting old and tired. And if they put Jim and Pam together it might just ruin the dynamic of the show.

This is one of the reasons, I like British TV. Short seasons where they can keep up the quality. Although I wonder how they can fill up programming if their shows only last 6 episodes a year.

That's ok. They can always shift the focus to Dwight/Angela or Michael/Jan. :)

Wow, I didn't think anyone else watched it but its one of the few weekday shows that is still on that I watch. I can't stand "my name is Earl" anymore, despite the hotness of the girl in the show.

They were initially going to cancel it last season, but with the 40 yr old virgin, they brought it back and thought they could ride the Carell wave. Its faster paced than the british one, but still a different type of humor than other shows because it doesn't feel like its forcing you to laugh with traditional type joke setups/punch lines.

but i agree, Dwight just makes that show.

Oh god no. The last thing we need is to start pairing up everybody in the office. What is this, Friends? These office romances subplots aren't bad in and of itself (That first Jan/Michael episode was one of the best of the series), but putting too much focus on them will be a big mistake. I mean an episode here and there, or a couple of ironic, inside jokes would be fine, but to devote a lot of screen time to romantic musical chairs would turn the show into a soap opera.

Thank god this show isn't on FOX or they'd have it on hiatus by now.

Sign of a good show: when it gets better as it goes along. The first season of this series was okay (I was a huge fan of the BBC version - I own the DVDs). But season 2 has been one hit after another. I think Dwight has improved (that opening where they move his desk into the men's room is hilarious btw, thanks in part to Kevin blowing out the candle, oh but last year's "the Schrutes make thirsty babies" was a good line, too). I really liked Gareth (the U.K. version of Dwight), but I think Rainn Wilson is doing a remarkable job making Dwight a little different than Gareth.

The Jim-Pam story is okay, but this is where the U.S. version pales in a big way to the U.K. version of Tim-Dawn (Martin Freeman was just too good). NBC, please don't hit us over the head with it in every episode or it will get tiresome in a hurry if you drag it out.

I love the show. Along with Curb it's the only one I record and watch again at least once.

Next to Dwight, Stanley is the man. I wish they would give him more lines.

Got to pipe up for my man, Kevin. I like him a lot better than his British counterpart (although the UK Kevin had the one classic line about his secret with women, "So I'd tell a girl very tenderly and gently I will guarantee them at least one orgasm").

I really didn't think that line would sell that well, either.
