i respect the spurs, their coach, ownership, players and their style of playing but I CANNOT STAND THEIR FANS!!! i challenge each and every one of you to listen to s.a. sports talk for 1 hour. thats all you need to fill your heart with disgust over their fans homerism, whineyness and overall lack of basketball knowlege.
Haha, I guess I should have put a smiley behind it. I hate the Spurs, but there is a reason why they are the defending champs.
Dude at the end of the year, the team was clearly tanking.....at least that is how I remember it...and I think the Clippers won on the last day to give the Rocks the pick, but my mind is fuzzy at 41... DD
The Spurs have my favorite and least favorite players that were never Rockets: Tim Duncan and Manu "Biggest, bestest player ever to average under 16 ppg" Ginobishutthefukup. I can't believe Charles slobbers all over this dick.
I hate them because they can actually play better than a JV high school team when their star player is out...
Ginobili and Parker are "spare parts"? If those guys are spare parts, then Rafer Alston and Derek Anderson would be considered oil sludge...
Of all the recent champions and Rockets' rivals, the Spurs are the HARDEST to hate. They have a bunch of solid guys who play the right way, none of them are arrogant pricks. I hated (and still do) the Fakers (Kobe, Malone, D Fisher, Rick Fox = arrogant dirty pricks), I hated those Bulls teams because MJ got away with so much (you couldn't breathe on him or a foul would be called, yet he could push the defender out of the way to sink game winners and get away with it), of course I hated those Jazzhole teams with Karla and stockton, I hated those Knicks teams w/ Ewing, Oak, Mason, starks; I hated that Suns squad, mainly b/c of Danny Ainge's punkass (barkley and KJ were fun to watch though). The NBA isn't like that anymore, there aren't too many teams that you can PURELY hate (I hate the Mavs though!!!). My guess is b/c the NBA has marketed individual player rivalries or matchups rather than team ones as in the 80's and early to mid 90's.
As a Spurs fan, I actually agree with this post. SA Sports talk radio is HORRIBLE. SpursTalk has some good posters - SpursReport they are fewer further between. Can't much disagree with the take, however.
I used to hate them, till I moved here to S.A. about 2 1/2 yrs ago. I left the Rockets and the poor players like Moochie "dribble hog" Norris and your new coach like JVG...( Cmon REAL Rockets fans, dontcha remember we used to HATE the KNICKS and JVG...in fact I still do! That was sacrilige hiring that punk of a coach!) Once I was forced to watch the Spurs (they show ZERO Rockets games here) I realized how awesome the game of basketball is played when played well. I am enjoying watching a team that passes the ball, a team with a bunch of stand out guys who aint ganstas, a team that plays as a team and that runs plays too, wow imagine that?! oh yeah...hehe and a team that wins, wins, wins. Sorry, I love this game...when its played well. Anyhow hate on smog city Houstonians! San Antonio is a great place and this is the time for their team to have a run in history...dont worry, the pendulum will swing back in about another 10 yrs or so.
The Spurs' "blue print" for success is rooted in... * A season of David Robinson playing 6 games (alleged insiders saying he could have returned but didn't). * Sean Elliot playing 39 games. * David Stern in his infinite wisdom limiting the 2nd year expansion 14-68 Grizzlies to a max overall #4 pick. * The 20 win Spurs having better ping pong ball luck than the 15 win Celtics and the 22 win Sixers. * Having access to Duncan in a draft where the "also rans" were Keith Van Horn, Chauncey Billups, Antonio Daniels, Tony Battie, Ron Mercer, Tim Thomas & Adonal Foyle. That's a sure-fire, can't lose formula that every other NBA team should emulate.
know what's awful about spurs fans in san marcos and austin, pretty much all of them (not all, but most) are just recently "converted" diehards. they are a bunch of bandwagoners. there weren't a bunch of stickers and flags on cars, and people wearing tshirts when they were crap. it's all recent. kind of like a lot of astros fans in san marcos. all of sudden these kids are wearing astros gear and brand new hats acting like fans. my astros hats are old and worn (not the ones you buy like that, the ones you got new and wear until they die). it just pisses me off, that they think after they go to the WS they think they can be fans. they weren't wearing stos stuff the other years i've been here.
