Rockets 33 fouls, Mavs 22 fouls. Yao 4, Damp 2 in 28 minutes. Damp has been averaging 3.7 in 21 min, Mavs avg 24.9 a game, Rockets 24.5.

Mark, it seemed kinda lopsided. Swift fouled out, 2 with 5 and 2 with 4. For the Rockets.

Help us Mark. Complain to Stern about how lopsided the reffing was last night.

Weak. "Lets make a thread where I might get an emotional response from frustrated Rockets fans".

The more agressive team always draws the most fouls. The first period was loaded with Mavs fouls because the Rockets were the more agressive team. The second half it was the exact opposite. Get over it.

Didn't we intentionally foul Diop about 3-5 times?

Anyway, overall I didn't have a problem with the officials, but that call Anderson got at midcourt when he ran into Armstrong was one of the weakest calls I have seen.

as a mavs fan, i thought the game was pretty ridculously officiated on both sides. some of the calls were just ridiculous.

To clarify, I meant I didn't have a problem with the officials as far as bias went.

The phantom foul calls on Yao and no-calls on refs' perceived clean swipes of the ball by defenders on Yao was nothing out of the norm for what Yao generally gets.....but there were a couple bad calls that stood out otherwise:

    - the continuation call Josh Howard got after being fouled on the floor by Juwan near the free throw line

    - Diop making significant body contact mid-air with Luther Head in the paint with no foul call (Head took the contact and still made the layup)

    - Terry hooking Yao around the waist and nudging him, getting the refs to call a moving pick on Yao

    - Wesley fouling Josh Howard as he posts up and backs him down ~16 feet from the basket, never even turning to attempt a shot....was the 4th team foul on Houston, yet inexplicably Howard gets free throws

    - Giving Head 3 freethrows when his foot was well inside arc and should have gotten only 2

    - Goaltending on Yao when the ball was not coming down; offensive goaltending on Dirk when the ball was off the rim

All in all a pretty sloppy officiated game.....not to mention the 'inadvertent whistle', a few initial miscalls on which team the ball was out-of-bounds on (which were then corrected), and tons of ticky-tack fouls called while obvious fouls especially in the paint were missed. I think even the announcers mentioned that Tommy Nunez needed to get his act together and start paying attention..

I don't have any stats, but it seems like there are more fouls being called all around the league this year. The NBA needs to do something about it. People don't pay all that money to see the action stop on every possession.

I think my feelings can best be expressed by the words of the immortal Mike Leak from the 1978 movie Bad News Bears in Breaking Training:

LET THEM PLAY!!! LET THEM PLAY!!!
