Great idea, this gameplan needs to start getting a bunch more momentum because it will never happen the way things are run by the over-loyal Mr. McNair. I am starting to seriously get worried that this team will somehow someway get inspired for the last 6 games of the season and pull out a few W's.

We as Texans fans need to sacrifice this second half of the season as a complete wash. We do not want to hear the haunting words from the Commish : "With the sixth pick of the 2006 NFL Draft, the Houston Texans trade the draft rights to ..................... blah blah blah:)

Don't Fire Casserly. Keep Casserly and Capers one more year so they can fail. We will have two number one picks this year and next. Reggie Bush this year, Vince in the following draft. Don't pay Carr, let him go to another team, he deserves another chance. Bring in some scrub and let him get killed by our weaka$$ O-line. After we get Vince, bring in a winning coach.

Considering how many season ticket holders have decided not to renew, I'm pretty sure this isn't a valid option. It's 100 times harder to regain fans than to lose them, and McNair is well aware of this.

    Put this way:
If we took a step to become a 9-7 team this year, intrest and excitement would have been through the roof. This obviously direclty translates to revenue. If we were 8-8, interest would stay as high as it had been the first few years.

However, this season has sent people packing. This is a tough team to support, and the seats are emptying. Those people that left aren't coming back until the Texans show them something, meaning, they aren't spending a dime next year, even if the Texans bounce back. It'll be the following year. If the Texans look this bad next year, even more people will walk away and find something else to get behind (Astros, Rockets, Aeros, MLS, LOST, something). Think of them as a jilted girlfriend. Easy to f up and lose them, ridiculously hard to win them back afterwards.

Investors are already unhappy. Advertising dollars follow. Economics rule this game. While your plan *might* pan out and give the Texans a contender, McNair won't stand by and bleed money and fan support to do so. Tanking is gutless.

Capers, Casserly and the rest are unemployed Jan 2nd. Period.

But does anyone think that the ship can be righted in a single offseason? Lets face it, we are not a hotspot for FAs so we are basically forced to build through the draft which means at most we can expect three or maybe four quality starters to come on board this offseason. I think it will take atleast 2 good offseasons before we see the team where they were LAST year in terms of Ws.

If Joe Clark can turnaround the disaster that was Eastside High, then Mr. McNair surely can bring in the right folks to turn this around for next year and get the scores up.

That's your opinion. I think it takes more guts to take the risks associated with sacrificing a season to get many potentially great seasons in return. This is a football town, and winning cures all. We will not win next season regardless. Why not take a chance. Mediocrity sucks, in H-town its all or nothing. A few more 7-9, or 8-8 seasons won't cut it.

No, emjohn is right: Tanking is gutless. Not only that, but when you foster an environment where it's okay to lose, the players become comfortable losing. Look at the Clippers and Bengals (of old) for an example of this. Sure, you may have your shiny new #1 pick, but you'll also be saddled with the stench of defeat, a smell your team will accept as commonplace. And that foul odor may take a long time to dissipate. Not worth it.

I agree. The players here now and who would be here through the next year would be a bunch of losers. No doubt. That's why you bring in a Championship caliber coach and give him control so he can choose his personnel. All losers will be shipped out and winners/playmakers will be brought in. You guys are not looking at this beyond next year. Next year is not going to be a successful season. We have too many holes on this team on both sides of the ball. Anyone who thinks we can win with just a few good offensive line changes is delusional.

Also, you shouldn't use the Bengals as an example when making your point. If anything, the Bengals plan of recent years falls more in line with my point. If you notice they have good young and talented skill position players and a coach with Championship experience.

Casserly did a great job of running Aaron Glenn and Jamie Sharper out of town. Who really needed them in the first place?? We got Moron "Lee" Greenwood and Phillip "I thought we were playing 2 below?!?!? "Buchanon in return.

I knew when we didnt upgrade the offensive line that we were in trouble, but I was more worried about defense with losing Sharper, and Glenn.

What's the deal on P-Burnt, I haven't heard but the way his leg got wrapped up under him it didn't look good for him, whether it will be good for the team though is debateable :)

i've said this before about casserly on here. when you have the third highest paid team and you are 1-9 or whatever they are now (i lose track after awhile), you know you aren't getting it done as a GM. he is absoulutely awful at evaluating talent and paying accordingly, and the the fact about all those draft picks that have been wasted via trade or on players like jabar gaffney, jason babin, etc. he has no clue of how to construct a winning team. if he is there after this season, i'd be shocked. he's by far the worst GM in all of pro football.

So I guees the 83' Rocket team was gutless for tanking the season so we could get Hakeem. And are the Spurs also gutless for tanking the 94 season so they could get Duncan. Three championships later I doubt the fans or media is still calling them gutless.

Oh and please dont try and use that weak arguement that thy're 2 different sports and 1 player makes a difference in BBall and not in Fball. Coz although San Diego didnt tank 2 get Vick or Eli But they got decent young players in return and LT. This is an excellent year to tank in Fball considering what teams might give up a kings ransom for either Leinart or Bush.
