Wow, that was cool. What kind of device do you have to buy to program the lights switch on and off like that?

There are better ones than that that actually look tasteful... that would drive the neighborhood psychotic watching it. lol. There's one up here in the Dallas area that was pretty amazing :

Much like a music mixing board, you can use a light board with for four to 64 dimmers and usually have up to 16 to 32 presets that let you do all kinds of stuff. You can rent them from your local theater supply store.

What floored me is the guy that does the lights in my link broadcasts music on his own radio frequency during the display and then syncs it with the lights... It's a sweet display, but I'd hate to be his neighbor. :D

Yeah, it didn't work in my firefox either. As for Christmas lights, I was listening to talk Radio 950 this morning and they counted only two stores that had the word "Christmas" in their fliers (about 30 total)... Garden Ridge had a "Christmas Sale" and CVS had a Christmas Night Light, but other then that there were no references to the word "Christmas" in any of the fliers. There were "holiday lights" and "holiday trees"... lol, pathetic.

FWIW when I roll out my Christmas package of bumpers, opens, and promos I use Christmas songs as well as traditional holiday songs. Basically I don't avoid songs becasue they are Christian like other stations do. If I have my mitts on a good song I will use it if it fits the stationality of the staion. TSO Christmas Canon, Southpark O holy night, Southpark - carol of the bells, Love Actually soundtrack - Christmas is all around, a bunch of stuff from Christmas Vacation, etc...

I see a business opportunity here.

We build lots of exterior Christmas decorations that really put the Christianity in people's faces: Like a big display that says, "Merry CHRISTmas!" or "Christ is born!" etc. and we market them like crazy to Christian religious groups throughout the country.

It has nothing to do with wanting "Christ" in there, it has everything to do with a marketing scheme that simply ignores the history of the holiday in the American culture. This politcally correct BS has gone too far if the word "Christmas" offends people.

Norman Rockwell paintings, classic movies and songs... go out the window with this freaking "Happy Holidays" bs.

Companies don't do it to be politically correct. They do it to increase markets. By excluding "Christmas" their products are appealling to a larger market of consumers.

They also alienate their key market... the people most likely to buy Christmas presents are, Christian or at least associate themselves with Christianity. There will be a backlash for this marketing scheme, and there are already ripples out there for it. I wouldn't personally boycott a store because they choose not to say "Merry Christmas" or sell a "Christmas Tree" but there are millions out there that would and are.

Only slightly. In all probability, most Christians either don't realize, or don't care that "Christmas" has been changed to "holiday".

    And for those that notice...
companies figure that the've got a better chance of selling a "holiday" decoration to a Christain than they have of selling a "Christmas" decoration to a Jew.

So, they increase their market share a whole bunch to include non-Christians, and they lose only a few members of their core market.

(note: I'm not arguing FOR the removal of "Christmas". I just understand why it's being done)

If you wanna see the greatest lights display in the Houston area (in my opinion), it's at the guy that owns all the Gullo car dealership's house. He lives in Magnolia. I'm trying to think of the road it's on, but it's a major attraction around this time. Those people go ALL OUT.
