the claim that alston is a better spot up shooter than james is ludicrous. alston has never been known as a pure shooter and the numbers back it up.

alston is a career 38% shooter overall, james is a career 42% shooter, and the last few years has consistently shot in the low to mid 40's. hell, james career 3pt% is about the same as Alstons overall FG %. if we look at their efg, the numbers are likely to be even more dramatic. i don't feel like going to 82games.com to prove this but it would if you looked it up.

Alston and Anderson, best back-court combo in the NBA right now.

I give JVG full credit for recognizing these two extraordinary talents. These two guards are the best thing that could happen to Rox. JVG should get coach of the year and GM of the year now.

    What numbers are those Sam?

The 'numbers' on Alston as a 3pt shooter proclaim that he hits at 36.2% for his career --> as opposed to Mike James at 35.8% on his career.

my claim regarded Alston as a set shooter - they don't tend to keep track of whether a shot was a 'set shot' or a 'created shot' - not even at 82games.com!

Alston's FG% is obviously lower because he's not a natural scorer in terms of creating his own shot - he needs to feed off other players - but his ability to set up the play for others probably exceeds that of Mike James.

I like James - I'm a big fan. But I also like Alston's 'pure point potential'.

Who? MIKE JAMES! he just helped the Raps get their first win today...against the Heat! He's having a great start to this season but I don't think he would've had the same role if he was still on the Rocks
