Over the past few days I've received a few e-mails in ASCII format, but there is never anything to read. Could they be read receipts or is my e-mail reader not able to view them?

    BTW, I use Outlook.

Outlook or Outlook Express? Is this happening to every email or just emails from a certain person?

    Thanks for responding Keeley.

I use Outlook, not Express. It's weird because it's not all e-mails. I thought they might be read responses, but I'm starting to second guess that because I've had two e-mails come from eBay that were completely blank.

    =(

I know more about Express than regular old Outlook.

They could be coming in a font that you don't have installed. Beyond that, I don't really know what it could be. Maybe a re-install would fix it? That's never the best answer, but it might work.

You might try using a different email app....just to see if Outlook is doing some kinda weird filtering or something. Try something simple...freeware or shareware; that doesn't have HTML capability.

OK, I know that the e-mails are Rich Text format(is that the same as ASCII?) and they are coming in completely blank from people that I haven't talked to in months. I've forwarded them to a web based e-mail service and even reinstalled Outlook and they still aren't viewable. Any other suggestions??

Rich Text Format is not the same as ASCII. Do you have a respectable word processing program to open the email with? Might have to save it as one type and then change the extension to Rich Text Format.

Hey, thanks to you all for responding!

Mango, I just tried that and it is still blank. I know that there should be something to see because a few of the e-mails are auto-responses from sites such as eBay and AccountTemps while others are from friends. Man, I used to be able to read these before my hard drive crash. Now that I have everything on a new drive, this problem occurs.
