It is not FIV. It is VERY rare in cats but does occur more often in dogs and humans. It is when the adrenal gland does not produce enough of two specific hormones causing kidney and liver dysfunction. Unfortunately, it is difficult to detect and so rare in cats that we didn't catch it until it was really too late. Thanks for all the posts, guys.

I feel your pain brother... My dog died two weeks ago...she was 17. I am 30...so I had Tess since I was 13. I can hardly remember life without her, so it's taking a bit of getting used to not having the old dog around. Buddhists believe in rebirth for all...so I hope Tess and your cat are somewhere nice ------------------
