I love Samsung electronics... nearly every home electronic I own is made by them. My two TVs, surround sound/stereo, DVD player, and computer monitors are all Samsung. Many of their products are actually higher quality and later technologies then Sony for a much cheaper price. Their computer monitors are an easy example of this... I equip all 300 of my users here at the office with 17" and 19" flat panel SyncMaster monitors. If you are thinking about taking a job with them, I'd be all over it GOOD LUCK!
The Samsung chip making plant in Austin screwed me out of an order when they expanded thier clean room facility. I was trying to get them to use my product for firestopping the expansion but they guy I was dealing with wasn't too honest with me. And their DLP TV's suck!
I've never had a Samsung product I didn't love. No experience working for them, but I love their products usually.
Samsung is such a large company that it's really dependent on the group that you work with. I've had a pretty positive experience with them on my commodities, but some of my coworkers have found them difficult to work with as they miss schedules, deliverables, etc.
I assume by the way you asked, you were meaning on the business side and not the consumer side (whether you have ever owned anything from them). I have dealt with them in the past with their semiconductor division, but I am not sure what exactly you wanted to know.
If, hypothetically speaking, Samsung were to launch a hand held GPS/MP3/Movies/Gaming product.......would people buy it? Also, what is their cash position, and how strong are they as a company. DD
My step father worked at Samsung here in Dallas. There are a lots of Korean in the management level, and he said most of them are total workaholics, and sometime they expect the same from you.
I personally wouldn't but a Samsung gaming product. It doesnt have the brand name legacy behind it. Maybe a GPS unit by Samsung would be ok, since it a newer technology with lesser name recogition. I usually am the first to get or read about gadgets on the market and I really don't see a Samusng gaming product doing well. Samsung tv's- good, Samsung monitors-good , Samsung phones- crap As for Samusng financial statement I would have to look at the books . I'll do that after I get back from the gym. I'm taking a short break from the market today.
Wow, didn't see this. It would be a good thing to have a large company like Samsung to back up your device, and you can have access to their cellphone techonology.
the company is korean isn't it? when I worked at Circuit City, there Televisions were the cheap brand. but I guess their other electronics don't have that rep.
from wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsung Samsung was founded in 1969, and one of its subsidiaries, Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. is one of the largest electronics companies in the world. Founded in Daegu, South Korea, it operates in around 58 countries and has over 208,000 workers. The turnover in 2003 was about 101.7 billion USD. Samsung is recognized as being one of the top 10 brands in the world. At present, Samsung Electronics operates in 5 business areas, namely Telecommunications (Mobile Handsets and Network), Digital and Home Appliances (including washing machines, microwave ovens, refrigerators, VHS and DVD players, etc), Digital Media, LCD, and Semiconductors. Samsung (meaning "three stars" or "tristar" in Korean) was founded by Lee Byungchul. Samsung Electronics is the flagship division of The Samsung Group. Samsung is one of the largest South Korean conglomerates ("chaebol"). It started as an exports company in 1938 but soon diversified
Another hand-held gaming console? I don't see any of them competing with Sony or Nintendo... seems like a waste of an investment to me. Even if the sytem had GPS and the works, people already have the more mainstream devices up and ready to go. I don't see anything like that having big sales...
If Samsung can deliver a good GPS with excellent navigation software for under $300 I'd buy it. Any idea where they could find someone to develop that??? They don't trade OTC. That's always a good sign.
