http://proxy.espn.go.com/nba/powerranking?season=2006&week=2 Damn, we dropped that low!! 22 (15) Rockets - 2-4 - JVG was lamenting his team's lack of speed before they went out and lost to Boston by 20. Don't know how fast Spree is at 35, but it's probably worth checking out.
at this point, all deserved. Until the team can come out and show shades of what they were at the end of last season, don't expect the sport writers to cut them any slack. :\
im having visions of the astros past season... stumbling out of the gate, the hurt superstar in mcgrady (berkman), and the injured heart/soul who might not play again sura (bagwell), and dropping in the rankings after being ranked reasonably well..... now to the world series, err finals we go!!!
power rankings are useless even if they have you #1. this isn't college football. there are playoffs and that's where you decide who's the champion. but it doesn't surprise me that we are that low....we are playing like we belong to be that low. we look like complete and utter crap. #22 sounds about right.
For the way the season is going, the Rockets are actually getting a lot of respect in espn.com's Power Rankings this week. Check out the entries for Boston and New Jersey. You can tell that Stein still likes Houston's chances this year. 17 (7) Nets 3-4 Houston can probably justify a sub-.500 record, having lost T-Mac briefly. Nets have a bit more explaining to do, tough sked or not. 18 (25) Celtics 3-3 So they can't beat Duncan's Spurs. So what? Celts can live with a 16th loss in a row to S.A. when it's sandwiched between wins over Memphis and Houston.
I'm glad we are not 30th. Even it's the case, I don't care. By the way, the rank is meaningless. Those people write these staff to feed their family. Keep improving and start to win games. Pay no attention to the ranking.
Man, I wish we had Sura back. I agree that the rankings don't matter, especially this early in the season, but I just hate watching us fall like that. And right now, it's true. No way should we have been blown out like that by Boston.
