countingcrow.. glad to hear that. The way everyone speaks on TV they act like FEMA is no good etc. and like the government owes them this and that.. glad to hear someone thankful Luckily we didn't get flooded and I dont think our neighborhood has ever flooded in the 30 years it's been here. After this flood though although we still didn't come too close to flooding we are checking into flood insurance. I bet all the insurance companies are getting a lot of people wanting insurance now [This message has been edited by Rocket Fan (edited June 25, 2001).]
My parent's main concern is the length of time they were told by the adjustor that it would take for FEMA to provide their flood insurance check, 4-8 weeks after the paperwork is done. Their other concern is that their 3 cars are possibly totaled and State Farm has yet to make an adjustor available. (this is obviously not a FEMA issue) ------------------
We got a check on Saturday for considereably more money than we expected. FEMA came through for us when I fully expected them to give us the run-around when supplying funds to people who actually need them. Now I hear that $500 million more is on the way to help aid flood victims.....thank you George Bush. What experiences are you obtaining from FEMA? Are they or did they come through for you in your time of need? ------------------
Did you get money through FEMA via flood insurance? Or was it one of the low-interest loans they provide? My parents have been told that it would take anywhere from 4-8 weeks to get their FEMA sponsored flood insurance money. ------------------
We surprisingly received a grant. We were never told by the inspector or the representatives on the phone that we were eligible for a grant. So, in other words, we weren't expecting the check that was delivered to us. SBA (Small Business Administration) had sent us a loan application, so we accordingly thought we weren't eligible for a grant, and therefore would have to fill out the loan application to receive any type of financial help. From what I understand from the FEMA representative I talked to on the phone, he said that the check we received was a grant to repair our damage to our home and did not have to be payed back. The SBA loan application was for additional help if we needed it. That is about all I can provide right now. ------------------
