I know there are many uncontrollable variables (i.e. fouls and opponents and injury factors), but what would you all consider to be an optimal arrangement for Yao's on-court minutes?

    How about:

    Q1 MInute 1-8
    Q2 MInute 6-12
    Q3 Minute 1-8
    Q4 MInute 6-12

That would give him about 30 minutes, maximize his rest, and find him in the game at crunch time: first 8 minutes of Q1, the close of 2Q, the first 8 minutes of 3Q and the last 6 minutes of 4Q. How many minutes does he typically play now?

    Other ideas...

Actually, I would like to get him 2 rests per half instead of just one.

    So...

    Q1 Minute 1-6
    Q1 Minute 11 - Q2 Minute 4
    Q2 Minute 7-12
    Q3 Minute 1-6
    Q3 Minute 11 - Q4 Minute 4
    Q4 Minute 7-12

    32 MPG....and lots of rest......

Let's just keep him out until the 4th quarter to keep him fresh.

I always loved the way JohnWooden never game-planned for opponents. He made them game plan for him.

Yao has great talent yet significant limitations. Let's figure out how he works best and utilize him that way invariably for awhile and see what happens.

    What's to lose?
