I've read enough of your posts to come to the conclusion that you try pretty hard to suck up to and be accepted by White people and White society in general. Someone just needs to read the responses written by Asians/Asian Americans in this thread to figure out why it's easy to pick on Asians by non-Asians and get away with it easily; whether it's making derogatory comments about Asians, depicting Asian males as feminine dickless people in the media, and in this case, using racial slurs to joke about Asians.
It was an out of context joke she said 5 years ago. The joke laughs at the knee-jerk PC crowd. Sometimes I think some non-black minorities get uptight with public usage of slurs in some contest to get equality with the N-word.
That's not why I compare it with the N-word. What difference does it make? They both are racial slurs. "Ch*nk" means to "MOST" Asian Americans what "Ni**er" means to Black Americans.
I wouldn't have any problem with it at all. With her delivery, I'm sure I'd laugh. Ni**er is just a word. When used by a racist, its an ugly word; when used by one black man to another, it can be a term of endearment. Either way, its just a word. I've listened to a lifetime's worth of Polish jokes.....some good natured; some downright nasty.......people just trying to get me into a fight. I personally think her joke on Conan is making fun of racists and people who are hypersensitive to racists. Obviously, it hurts people, so I would not probably not go there myself, but its not that is mocking Asians - she is mocking people who do not know the difference between a racist and someone who is mocking racists.
