No that isn't. Taveras sucks big time in the one area top-of-the-lineup hitter needs to do: getting on base. His OBP, as I pointed out, was abysmal. Taveras also sucks big time in the one area lower-in-the-order should be able to do: drive people in. His slugging is absolutely pathetic. His batting average really deceives his ineptness on offense. Ensberg, for example, has a lower BA. But he was so much more useful on offense because (A)he draws a lot of walks and (B)hits lots of doubles and HRs.
