The church in NY was running FULL PAGE ads in national newspapers, campaigning against a candidate! That is a far cry from a sermon that is against war. Surely you can see the distinction in the two cases…right? BTW, Pat Robertson ACLJ organization defended the church in New York, even though they were clearly violating their tax exemption status. So what is the chance that Pat and his crew come to the aid of this “liberal” church.
Worse. They stood in opposition to our savior. Not the one in the Bible, the one in the White House. After all, he's doing one heckuva job, just like his buddy Brownie.
Sigh, I always thought that I am a bad Christian. Religious groups with political power is always a very dangerous thing, and history has proven that over and over and over again. Anyways, probably political struggle is much more interesting than reading Bible. Well, what do I know, I should not judge anyone, especially those ones who constantly get advices from God in war and policies.
i agree. i don't want a theocracy. it breeds the sort of contempt for the church and ultimately for God that we see in Europe, today. a sad result, indeed.
Look what the Jewish religous leaders, notice I said religous leaders not all Jews, did to Jesus with the help of their Roman overlords. Religion and politics is always a bad mix.
Yes and look what those Christian leaders, note I didn't say Christians I said Christian leaders, did to all of those Jews in Spain during the Inquisition and several other times since 1AD.
