Due to demand from my "something is going to happen post" in the 2001 forum, Here we are:
Have you ever had a bad feeling about something?.....What did you say? A bad feeling about this post? Shut your mouth. I'm talking about gut feelings and the like that makes you think, act, or do...I've heard about army squad leaders who made their moves on "hunches" or "feelings", the question is why? Why did you do this instead of that?..I don't know I felt that way about it. But the thing is you can't explain the feeling. I've discussed this with some of the other posters, but perhaps you feel like someone is with you in a room when no one is there. Perhaps you see a ghost or think you see a ghost. ..Perhaps you dream about the Rockets winning a championship and they do just one year after your dream...You distinctly remember the chronicle special sports section prior to the championship 1994 season ..."will they trick us or treat us", with Hakeem in the photo on the front page and that image stays with you before the season starts..Is this signs that lead you to predict the Rockets will win a championship? I don't know, but I assure you it happened to me. Did I go out and say: Hey the Rockets will win it all in 1994, of course not. Do I feel like the feelings I get about something is real? Yes. Do I get them all the time? No way... Can I be Miss Cleo? Hell no, not even close. I remember going in some woods when I lived in Huntsville as a kid and getting a sudden, terrifically bad, bad feeling, I can't explain it at all. Maybe I was getting scared by myself in the woods and the feeling could be explained rationally....Yet I had been in the woods around our country home several times. I just couldn't shake the feeling and went straight home..but enough about me, look at yourself or someone you know, perhaps an Aunt, Uncle or the person named Thomas?...Have you ever had gut feelings about something? of course, you can't rationalize them, no one can. But in some instance your instincts about something came true or perhaps something like this has happened to someone you know...Please share your experiences.

I DEFINITELY get that. I just call it instinct, but I find that I can predict or sense certain things very well.

As an example, nearly everything that has happened with pro teams in Houston regarding arenas and stadiums, I predicted.

Back before the Oilers left, I said that we WOULD get a new team within a fairly short period of time but it would cost us 4 times as much as keeping the Oilers - TRUE

I told everyone that LA had very little chance at beating out Houston for a new NFL team - TRUE

I told lots of people that I knew the arena referendum in 1999 would fail - TRUE

I knew, and told many close friends, that as soon as Save Our Rockets got started, the arena would make it to a referendum and pass - TRUE

I don't know how I knew. I just did. There are other numerous examples from my personal life as well, but these were things I thought we could all relate to.

I am a VERY strong believer in intuition. I think that we all have that ability to know what is right and what will work.

I do get gut instincts about bad things also, but they are usually related to getting swindled or something of that nature. I think I get my abilities from my mother who has unreal intuition and my grandmother who knows a person (and I mean knows them) the minute she meets them.

I just wish I could predict the stock market or something profitable! [IMG]

-To be quite honest with you...intuition and paranoia, well I confuse the two.
-I'm not quite sure what reality is when these feeling or thoughts or hunches cross my mind and frankly, I don't like it. I block it out and just wait and see.
-I'd much rather have a suprise than think I knew all along, but thats just me.
-Interesting ROXRAN, thanks for sharing. Goodnight. [IMG]

Definitely. Go with your gut. You don't have to understand something to know it.

Personally, I don't like acting on gut instinct alone. I can be a very paranoid person at times and tend to worry a lot when I'm under stress. I hear a noise, I think someone is at the door. No one is there. Or I feel something bad has happened to somebody, but it turns out to be nothing. However, there are rare times when my gut instincts turn out to be true. The day my grandmother died I was at my aunt's place. The phone rang and I immediately knew someone had died before someone picked it up. Another time, I had a dream around 6am (I woke up) that my girlfriend got in a car accident. I talked to her later that day and she was in a car with a friend at 6 that morning and spun out of control, barely causing a major accident. Do I think something supernatural was going on? No. I was talking to my girlfriend the night before while she was at a party and I told her not to drive while drunk... my dream was probably just a reflection of my fear. Her friend who was driving the car was being a bit reckless. Despite this I think intuition can be very useful. Sometimes your subconcious just picks up on things you don't conciously notice. However, I still like something a little more concrete to back up my feelings.

Almost every decision I am faced with I use my instincts, with rational thought thrown in of course. Now granted I act paranoid but my accuracy has been at a percentage too high for me to drop it. Plus I just can't go against the raw energy inside. [IMG]

I go with my guy a lot of the time. Some of it I believe is God whispering to me.

But, a little off topic, I do have extremely long Deja Vu' occurrences. Sometimes for a couple minutes. Sometimes, I can even tell a person I'm next to what will happen next. Other times I'm just so amazed I sit there and watch it all unfold in front of me.

Usually the longest ones feel like they happened years and years ago. It's like talking to an old friend and he tells you about something y'all did way back in the day and you start to remember.... weird stuff.

This has been a weird week for me. On saturday some friends and I were driving along and saw a Mama Ninfas. I asked everyone if she was still alive. A day or two later she passes away. Then on wednesday I'm on the net messing around and stumble across AllintheFamilysit.com because I'm a big Archie Bunker fan. Now today he passes away. This has got me super freaked man...

Man, for someone on vacation, you sure get up early in the morning!

And the blank post is mine, mine I tell you! I saw Pueldfor use it in another thread. Pretty soon, every stupid thread will be 100 posts long, without a single word written. [IMG]

Also Pine, do you realize that the record for highest posting average is 8/day, held by BobFinn.

    You're averaging 30 posts a day!

I hear the Piney Woods are beautiful this time of year. You should go and see them. [IMG]

Behad, my sleeping schedule defies logic.

I sleep when I'm sleepy and get up when I'm not. I like to sleep twice a day instead of once. I love being up during hours most are sleeping, and sleeping during hours most are up (at least on vacation).

Hey, you must work near one of my old jobs. Texas City. I was an industrial janitor at the Union Carbide plant the summer of 1974. Now there was a job you don't want to do for a long time. Yeah, give me that steam cleaning when its 104 degrees outside! A hard hat, goggles, long sleeves, gloves, and a steam hose the size of a fire hose. Does it get any better than that?

BTW, they're really ripping off your blank post. I saw it several times this a.m.

Dude, if you could only see the trees around this place you would be so jealous right now.

I have a dirt/gravel drive off the farm road, and you can't even see the road from this little house. The birds get busy at 5 every morning. A few days ago I was walking out to the mailbox and a rabbit was hauling a$$ up the drive with two of my nearest neighbor's dogs in hot pursuit.

I damn near ran over a young doe early this week when I was headed to town.

AND I MISSED THE FLOOD (THANK YOU JESUS).

My posts will taper off. I have to go to Austin soon, and then to Houston. The real world beckons.

Not Toxic City.I'm on the ship channel in Deer Park.

I worked in tank cleaning before coming here. 104 outside the tank, 125 degrees inside the tank. In level B suits and breathing air. Nasty stuff.

The blank posts in the tribute threads are different. They are our way of saying goodbye.

I have friends who have a place in Etoile. I am jealous as hell!
